Any Way to get Spell Focus Conjuration Free? [Archive] - Wizards Community

10-27-05, 05:56 PM I thought I remembered reading somewhere being able to snag the feat easily. For some reason I am thinking it was maybe a domain granted bonus? It's for a summoner build. I am trying to find an easy way to get the feat--preferably 1 level dip, but I am open to any ideas. Thanks!

Let me guess: For Augment Summoning.

Half Orc Druid Racial Substitution Levels grants the same bonus as Augment Summoning, for free. See Races of Destiny.

10-27-05, 06:16 PM Thanks. I actually already found a way to get Augment Summoning for free. I wanted to take Beckon the Frozen as well, and, unfortunately, you HAVE to have Spell Focus Conjuration in order to take Beckon the Frozen.

Seriously, if you are going to be a summoner then you should be either a Druid or Specalist Wizard (Conjuration, obviously), both of which benefit from SF: Conjuration. +1 DC to Arc Lightning, Planar Binding, the secondary effects of Orb spells, and real powerful effects like Maze and Trap the Soul.

Another way to boost your monster's meat is with the Conjurer variant in UA. Instead of the bonus feats (save scribe scroll) you can gain the benefits of a +4 bonus to the DC of attempts to dispel your minions and a +4 Strength and Constitution which stacks with Augment Summoning over 20 levels.

Despite this, a Druid/Hathran/Thaumaturgist is an exceptional summoner in the FR setting.

10-27-05, 08:07 PM Thanks. Yeah, I was going to probably make a druid/conjurer arcane hierophant. I had planned on using the conjurer specialist variant in UA that gives you Augment Summoning at 1st level instead of scribe scroll (what I mentioned in my earlier reply about getting Augment Summoning for "free"); it also allows you to cast summon monster as a standard action if you give up the ability to acquire a familiar. I was also going to take Human Paragon for the bonus feat and +2 to Wisdom. Planning on using Summon Monster (Wizard caster levels)to summon elementals w/ Rashemi Elemental Summoning, and Summon Nature's Ally (Druid caster levels) to summon animals w/ Greenbound Summoning. Should be fun! I was just trying to get Beckon the Frozen earlier--it's not a necessity or anything; I just thought it would be a nice icing on the cake. :)
