I'm particulary interested in being Beholder Mage ;) but without actually being a beholder :D I may be munchkin, so what, this is only theoretical question.

So, is there any racial (humanoid shape ;) ) ability, class ability or pre-epic ritual that may help with the matter? I don't expect that there will be obvious ways, but still.

Btw - ways of acquireing elven feats & PrCs while not being an elf, or dwarven ones... all they might be fun :)

This (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=540563) is exactly what you are looking for, but beware, it contains a lot of cheese :D

Edit: You could qualify for racial feats and PrC by a Changeling with Racial emulation feat (RoE), but you'd have to be in the form of a member of that race 24/7, or you would lose all the benefits of it.

If you lose the prequisites for being in a PrC you still keep all your class levels and features, you just can't level up in that PrC anymore until you meet the prequisites again.

No, I'm AFB at the moment, but IIRC there is at least in CW a section that says that you lose all of the abilities of the class when you lose prequisites, and I think there are more books that say the same thing. Though this is still debated a lot, most think this is the case, so it's usually considered true in these boards.

In addition to my Dirty Trick #1: Behold! (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=540563) which J-A-R-N-O linked, you could also consider the Stoneblessed prestige class from Races of Stone which allows you to "become" a gnome, dwarf, or goliath for the purposes of taking classes and feats. Likewise, the Renegade Mastermaker prestice class from Magic of Eberron does the same, but only to make a character into a Warforged.

Your DM may allow you to take the Human Heritage feat from RoD in-order to qualify for human feats&PrCs. Generally you need to be from a human-descended race, but if your character had a human greatx10^10 grandfather then you're human descended thus could arguably qualify for the feat. Another idea is to use it on a character that has been transformed from a human into another creature type, like a Kaorti or Slaad.

"Dirty Trick" is fun, but well... I will not be able to stay in humanoid shape (don't get me wrong, I wouldn't mind changing race, type or anything. Just shape).

About loosing class abilities - it depends on certain PrC. If there is no word about it, then I dunno - in my opinion, character should loose all abilities, and in most PrCs that is explicity said.

For Beholder Mage - problem is that the ruined central eye is the focus, spell-stalks deliver somatic components and so on - looseing the shape must mean loosing spellcasting.

For gnome, dwarf, goliath, warforged and human emulation - thanx, great job ;)
Sad that's not so easy with Beholder Mage.

Idea from now - If I would manage to create 11 eyes on my head, ten on stalks and one central... Then implant antimagic in that central eye... Then, if I only would be able to switch a race without any other changes... It might work?

Then, if I only would be able to switch a race without any other changes... It might work? Erm, the real trouble is that it is exceedingly difficult to gain the qualifier of "Race: True Beholder." Unless you have that, having the rest of the prerequisites is moot. If you know a way to switch race "without any other changes," it would be useful, but I'm not aware of any way to do that outside of the somewhat-limited Changeling approach listed earlier.

The worst thing is that I cannot find a definition of a "race" in D&D anywhere. For simple characters, all is ok, but when it comes to spells that plays with mind and body, we have trouble.

For things like favoured enemy it's easy - fighting bonuses apply if character has body of enemy's race, and "understanding" bonuses if he has mind of one.
For requirements, it's undefined, sadly.
