I'm interested in hearing if anyone has planned something like this out yet and if so, what kind of feat selections you've gone for. So far I'm planning: 1st - Human Bonus: Truespeak - Prereq for Fiend Binder 1st - Wizard Bonus: Scribe Scroll 1st: Spell Focus (evocation) - Prereq for Archmage 3rd: Spell Focus (conjuration) - Prereq for Archmage 5th - Wizard Bonus: Open 6th: Improved Familiar (Imp) - Not too optimized, really just wanted for flavor 9th: Open 12th: Open 15th: Skill Focus (spell focus) - Prereq for Archmage 18th: Open Also, from an optimization standpoint, besides the item from the ToM that gives +10 to Truespeak checks, what would you consider essential for a build like this. |

Premise behind him was that a Narfell Tribesman learned that he had a gift for sorcery and a Fiendish heritage. This led him to discover secrets from Narfell's past and the re-discovery of the way of the demon binder. Now he is trying to unite the tribes under his rule, and usher in the return of Narfell of old. Ignoring the Nar Demonbinder, I could have gone Sorc 5/Fiend Blooded 5/Fiend Binder 10. The main problem I have with the build is that it's feat hungry. I need Eschew Materials, Blood Calls to Blood, Iron Will, Cosmopolotin (for the Knowledge of the plains skill), and True Name training. If I went with the 2nd build, I could drop the iron will requirement. The thing that I do like about the first build though is that if it goes epic, the Fiend Blooded and Nar Demonbinder grant a bunch of extra spells known to the standard Sorceror's repetior. The biggest issue is that Knowledge of the plains is a cross class skill for Sorc's, so you have to buy a feat like education or cosmopoliton to get enough skill ranks to qualify. Which Incidently makes the Fiend Blooded PrC totally messed up. They say that it is primarily meant for Sorc's but there is no way a Sorc could qualify for it. before 14th lvl. Even the sample characters given were in error. Here is a letter I wrote to Customer service; Hello, quick questions. In the Heros of Horror book, there is a PrC called Fiend Blooded. In it's description it says that it mainly favors sorcerers. However it's requirements include Knowledge: The Planes 8. Acording to the Players hand book, Knowledge: The planes, is a cross class skill for Sorcerers. That means that a Straight Sorcerer wouldn't be able to take all 10 levels of the PrC before 20. However you show two examples of Fiend Blooded characters, both are Sorcerer 6/Fiend Blooded x. They could not have qualified for the PrC unless the players guide is in error and Knowledge: the Planes is a class skill, or the new feat in Heros of Horror, Blood Calls to Blood, makes the Knowledge a class skill, and was some how omitted. Any clarification would be appreciated! And their response: The description is a bit in error and the requirement is correct. It wouldn't be possible for a pure sorcerer to have the required skill ranks until 13th level and then be able to take the class at 14th level. The example characters are also incorrect. Sorry for the confusion. Have fun and good gaming! So I guess it's a class for bards then......with familiars. LOL. Anyways, how that pertains to the topic is that the Fiend Binder also requires a Knowedge of the Planes 10. So the way around it for a Sorc is to get the cosmopolitan feat or education feat. Hmmm...Wizard(conjurer) 5/Fiendbinder 10/red wizard 5 could also be interesting too. |

It does cost a caster level but it gives better HD, BAB, Whatever class skills you please, one skill for absolutely ever (UMD, perhaps?), a bonus feat and a +2 to Charisma. Giving up caster levels is very bad but in this case it's enough I might give it good look. It also doesn't delay your entrance into Fiend Blooded at all. |
