Hello optimizers!

Well... starting a new campaign soon

I've become quite fond of the sneak-em up - grab-kill em from behind type of char, and thought I'd want to play one in our new upcomming campaign. Well PB is 40, lvl 20 and 760k to get some eq.. I'd really want this char in artemis entreri/sam fisher style ;)

All offical WOTC Material is allowed (including dragon mag)

Any ideas?

Take a look at the Telflammar Shadowlord 7/Assassin 8 builds. 15 levels of Death Attack and Dimension Door should do the trick. Since you are approaching Epic, the Dragon (summer 2003) issue with Epic feats included some nice ones revolving around improving Death Attacks. A kukri should be your weapon of choice due to the large crit range. I suggest human Bard to start off, with the Able learner feat, so you can eventually get Battle Dance at level 27, if you go that far.

Maybe start with figther and two bladed gauntlets take the tempest (Masters of the wild) or weapon master (sword and fist)

Tempest is from the Complete Adventurer if you are playing 3.5. Weapon Master is complete warrior for 3.5 as well.

The Telflammar shadowlord is just 6 lvls long? So I'll have to be 6 telflammar/ 9 asn for that build to work ;) But it sure is a nice build do you know the specific issue that took up those feats in Dragon mag?

The tempest/weapon master build could be quite nice if i get a low crit weapon like rapier, kukris or scimitars

Thx alot for your replies guys

What do you think of this build then? 2ranger/3swashbuckler/9assassin/6telflammar

I max out my Int get an assasins dagger and ability focus: death attack, whoops a Death Attack DC of 40 (18 + 5 tome + 5 levels +6 item = Int of 34 = +12) thats 10 base + 12 int +15 lvls +1 asn dagger +2 ability focus: death attack

I also pick up the twf tree with this to dish out some good damage if my death attack fails..

Omunchkin,

The feats are in Dragon 297, starting at pp. 28.

Battledance - gain Cha to AC, attack, Reflex saves
Destructive attack - make death attacks on plats, undead, constructs
Lingering Death - on a failed death attack, target makes second Fort save on next turn.

Thanks for reminding me about Telflammar Shadowlord being just six levels long.

2ranger/3swashbuckler/9assassin/6telflammar looks fine, but if you want to go for battledance at level 27, make sure to have access to Perform. In that case, go:

Bard 1/Ranger 1/Swashbuckler 3/ Assassin 9/ Tellflammar 6
