I am looking at Halfling Pilot1/Fighter2. That gives me five Feats, and +1 to AC, Attack, and Saves. Does anyone that's played the game know of a great build. I am looking for a 3-10th level progression. |

I am looking for a 3-10th level progression. I've played DragonStar (the now defunct Living DragonStar campaign). DragonStar isn't like any other D&D campaign. You have standard D&D PCs with standard D&D hit points armed with weapons which inflict 4d10 damage (and can critical for 8d10) at 1st level. Weapons and armor show the most improvement over the core rules. Tactics, such as going prone for ranged combat and using cover, are very important for survival. Ranged combat is most common, although the "Pressing Attack" feat makes a melee fighter possible (it allows you to make a 5' step if an opponent in melee with you takes a 5' step). The campaign version of a ranger is nice. Mechanists can do lots of broken things with weapons upgrades. Ed |

With a high intelligence to start with and those skill points spent wisely you can make a lot of stuff on the fly with the right craft\knowledge check. It's even worse now with Psychic Reformation as you can make yourself a virtual expert in any skill you have 1 point already spent by spending no more than 100 xp to reshuffle your skill points. A little homework outside of game (crack that chemistry book open) and a shaper is a walking factory. With enough time and power points you never have to worry about having enough explosives to do the job right, getting the BFG through a checkpoint, or being stranded because your ship breaks. Dragonstar's emphasis on technological goods with magical products filling in the gaps (rather than the reverse or a synthesis of magictech) really adds a lot of 'hard' tech to the shaper's toolbox. |
