My stats: STR 12 DEX 14 CON 14 INT 11 WIS 8 CHA 15. I can swap the placement of 2 ability scores, according to the DM.
I'm Human, and CN.

My character at 1st level: Hexblade 1. Combat Reflexes, Kiai Shout. I took Kiai Shout because it meshes well with the 1/day Hexblade's curse ability, which I'd like to emphasize. Combat Reflexes just seemed like an obvious choice. DM has houseruled Greatclub to simple and Greatspear to martial, so I took Greatspear as my weapon at 1st level. I'm not overly attached to it yet, it just seemed versatile and cool. If it matters, the rest of the party is an orc Druid, a gnome Sorcerer, and a mongrelman Rogue.

My so-called plan of progression: Alternate Hexblade and Warlock up until 13th level, when I get the greater curse. Then, take Warlock straight to 19th for the 12th level ability. This feels very late in the progression, so other ideas are welcome. Hexblade 8 would be the 20th level capstone, because I don't know a good 1-level dip for this build off the top of my head. I was thinking of focusing on ranged combat for Feats, and battlefield control with the Invocations. Miasmic Cloud and Baleful Utterance are key least Invocations.

My resources: PHB I & II, Completes, Races, Tome of Magic, and anything in the 3.0 splatbooks that didn't get ported to 3.5. In addition, the DM has said that we can each take one - and ONLY one - feat each from the listing at crystalkeep, subject to his approval. This means I could sneak in one thing from Dragon, or an unlisted source, potentially.

I really like the Hexblade curse, like I said, and I covet Mettle. I also like the Warlock's continual blastability, as the DM likes his latenight ambushes and thinks the 20% guideline is just a suggestion. Any suggestions would be helpful.

If you just want unlimited blasts, I'd stick with full Hexblade and just get a reserve feat (Complete Mage).

Thanks for the reply, Defender of the Freeps.

I guess I shoulda been more clear. I'm envisioning this as more of a Warlock build, more of a blaster type, who is hardier than normal thanks to Hexblade's Mettle, with the cool extras that the Hexblade's curse brings. If there are ways to get similar curses, and they work along with another way to get Mettle, I'd be ok with that. Warlock 12 and Hexblade 5 seem solid, with the other 3 levels as filler, though Hexblade 7 is pretty sweet.

Eldritch Theurge (CM) might be a little more like what you are looking for, DR and fast healing for short bursts, along with great spellcasting progression. Although it will be a late entry for you, and might not have enough hp to keep you happy.
