Anything in Complete Mage / Scoundrel noteworthy, in relation to Binder optimization? [Archive] - Wizards Community

For an upcoming campaign, I'm strongly considering playing a Binder... something I've wanted to try since I read through the ToM, but just never got around to. :)

...just curious if there's anything in the Complete Mage or Complete Scoundrel that stands-out as noteworthy, when it comes to Binder optimization...? (or in the 2nd Fiendish Codex, as well?)

(I know there are no PrCs for Binders in there... I'm talking other stuff)

I own the books, but won't have access to them for a short while... (DM's using them over the week, etc)... so I figured I'd ask the optimization sages here, as I plan ;)

Well its more of Binder helping the Warlock, but there is a new PRC called the Hellfire warlock, bind whats his name again Naeblius or something and there is almost no negative costs and you get a 6d6 boost of damage to your eldritch blast.

There are also 3 new psionic vestiges in the mind's eye articles.

Yeah... I know all about the Hellfire Warlock/Binder synergy ...and the three new vestiges. :)

Just wondering if there's any feats or other little tricks in those books that actually help out the Binder (not the Warlock) :)

The Binder does ok w/ 3 levels of uncanny trickster for a skill build; you lose 1 level of binding and have a net gain of 8 skill points and 3 extra uses of tricks.

The skill tricks are nice, but some are tough to pull off. Nimble Charge + Chupoclops + more melee vestiges give some nice options for a charging build, but good luck w/ the prereqs (you can use the 1st Uncanny Trickster level to get the prereqs before 2nd level UT, though). It adds well w/ Neraph Charge, too, if you bind the SS/SA vestiges. The Interaction skill tricks are nice for a binder, and are a lot easier to pull off. There's one (I forgot the name) that allows you to count as charging if you are riding a mount and fast dismount off of it: Chupoclops + Andras synergy.

CM didn't have much that I saw for a Binder; I'll look again when I go home. I've been playing 2 of these in two different campaigns, and you know what? I'm probably going to make a Binder cohort in my third. They're that much fun!
