I recently borrowed Power of Faerun and Tome of Magic from someone in my group and was wondering what crunchy bits were worth paying attention to?

I'm not actually seeing a lot of crunch in Power of Faerun, on my quick glance through I remember seeing one prestige class and a handful of feats scattered through the book.

For Tome of Magic I remember seeing a lot of stuff about truenaming stuff (Anima Mage?). This book looks much more crunchy.

Any good threads that go in depth on the crunchy bits of ToM?

Scroll back a few pages and you should see a Preliminary binder Guide, two Truenamer optimization threads and a Shadowcaster guide. There are also several shorter threads on anima mage, etc.

So far the Binding has gotten most attention; Truename seems to be hamstrung by the mechanics; Shadow Magic hasn't seen as much activity as either, so far.

Power of Faerun has Heretic of the Faith, which I think Caelic best described. (I think it was Caelic.)

Paraphrased:

"[Heretic of the Faith] shows that, regardless of what the fluff text says, Clerics can really do whatever they want."
