Okay, I need answers to two things.

1) There is a clause in the Spells section for an Apostle of Peace that says (in paraphrased form to avoid CoC violations) that you add 1/2 of your caster levels from your previous class to your Apostle of Peace levels to determine the caster level. Thus, a Cleric 10/Apostle of Peace has a caster level of 15. However, what if you take practiced spellcaster? That effectively will give you +4 to your Cleric level thus giving you technically Cleric 14/Apostle of Peace 10...or, Caster Level 17. Does that work?

2) What is a good friggin' build that maximizes this aspect of the Apostle of Peace? I haven't found any builds for the Apostle of Peace that I really like. Does anybody have any good builds?

Thanks,

No reason why it doesn't, as it states caster level not class level.

Some people have come up with crazy infinate CL builds abusing this mechanic, maybe they work, maybe they don't, but you're unlikely to play one sucessfully.
Without going for infinate CL you won't really be able to get a huge caster level out of AoP. As with most of the fast caster progression classes I see it as more of a dip class, maybe for a Sacred Fist build, especialy if you can convince your DM to allow the 'Holy Subdual' feat work with the Sacred Flames class ability.

Hmm...I never thought about adding Apostle of Peace with Sacred Fist...do you have a specific build in mind?

It works really quite well and easily, almost as if they where made for one another.Vow of Peace means you need to do subdual damage, which Monks are the best at and sacred fist is a must for divine casting monks, plus the weapon restrictions ties in nicely with the vow of poverty.

Try...
Monk 7 / Apostle of Peace 2 / Sacred Fist 10 / Monk +1

Should be simple and effective. If possable play a human to take VoP at 1st level. Make sure with your GM you can use Holy Subdual on Sacred Flames.

Further optimisation is very possible, what more do you want out of it?

Not much, that seems pretty damned good. Thanks Lord Kiwi. I might try and squeeze 4 levels from Apostle of Peace because my DM has a penchant for demons and devils. Thanks for the advice though!

The infinite CL builds don't work (at least, I haven't yet seen one that did,) but you can get the CL pretty impressively high.

The Sacred Chord, f'rinstance, uses Sublime Chord in conjunction with Apostle of Peace. Since Sacred Chord (as written) takes your Sacred Chord level and adds it to your level in one other arcane class, and then uses that as the caster level for all of your arcane classes, and since Apostle of Peace uses caster levels to calculate its overall caster level, it's fairly easy to generate an AoP caster level in the 30's.

Whether any DM would be lenient enough to let you get AWAY with it isn't my place to say, of course.

Being as how the Apostle of Peace is decently feat heavy (at first levels anyway) I was wondering how to optimize a tripping/disarming Apostle of Peace. My DM and I have talked it over and tripping/disarming are not attacks and therefor do not break any vows. I am going to either be a Strongheart Halfling (for the bonus to AC and the extra feat at 1st level) or a Human.

Obviously, the two starting feats are pretty much taken (Sacred Vow & Vow of Poverty). I thought a good third level feat would definitely be Improved Trip or Improved Disarm that way when the Orc comes charging at me I can just knock him on his face and manacle him.

Oh and Flaws are allowed. ;)
