Hopefully this should be pretty quick, but I just have a couple of questions about the Arcane Archer's imbue arrow ability.

From the SRD:

Imbue Arrow

At 2nd level, an arcane archer gains the ability to place an area spell upon an arrow. When the arrow is fired, the spell’s area is centered on where the arrow lands, even if the spell could normally be centered only on the caster. This ability allows the archer to use the bow’s range rather than the spell’s range. It takes a standard action to cast the spell and fire the arrow. The arrow must be fired in the round the spell is cast, or the spell is wasted.

Now, here's the first question: if a bow has the splitting enhancement, does the spell go off twice, once for each arrow?

Now the second: the SRD says that it is a standard action to cast the spell and fire the arrow. Now, I'm far and away from suggesting that spells with very long casting times could be cast more quickly this way, but how about something like a sorcerer casting a spell that is being modified by a metamagic feat?

Any answers or hints to where answers might be would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

what spells are you thinking of imbuing? i always found imbue arrow with AA was a pointless ability (considering most of the spells you could cast would have a longer range than the arrow coming from the bow)

Just by reading the splitting enchantment (ie, splitting arrows are identical to the nonsplitting arrow) and the imbue arrow ability, i gotta say it should work. Of course, your DM might have words with you if ya try it.

And by words, i mean a PHB to the side of the head.

I dunno, shooting an opposing wizard with an AMF arrow might be funny.

There's no "might" about it :D

Yeah, it's honestly probably not the most optimized of ideas, the splitting enhancement is a way to make it better. It's much more of a flavor build with some optimization behind it.

But it's also nice for placing spells that have to radiate from you in a place where you can't/don't want to go.
