Arcane caster getting access to a domain [Archive] - Wizards Community

05-01-05, 05:06 PM Working on trying to make an effective counterspeller (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=421412), and hence trying to find ways to boost Dispel checks. The best (and only) way found so far is to get access to the Inquisition domain, for the domain ability of +4 to dispel checks. The trick is, getting access to the Inquisition domain ability as a Wizard :) Unfortunately, Arcane Disciple won't do it; that only gives spells, not abilities. Really, the best way I've found so far is just taking a level of Cleric; however, is there a way to do it without loosing an arcane caster level?

05-01-05, 07:23 PM IIRC the Contemplative PrC can be used to add to arcane caster levels, and it gives you Domains, also.

Looking like the only way to do it properly is with Heighten Spell and a bunch of low-level spells that can be heightened to the necessary level. A bit more foolproof anyway, I've just played a bunch of Sorcs and was looking to play a Wiz this time.

05-01-05, 09:13 PM Already checked, Contemplative is divine-only progression :(Then they must have changed it with the 3.0 to 3.5 revision. I'm pretty sure people used to add it to arcane caster levels.

Edit: Hmm... maybe I'm wrong. It's listed as Divine only in the 3.0 PrCs on crystalkeep.com.
