Just made a new Topic out of an idea that came up in "what is the best spellcaster" Thread, some pages ago... Help me optimise this Build? :D

Build:
Sorcerer 5 / Mage of the Arcane Order 7 / Arch Mage 5 / ??? 3
can be of any Race, no urgent need for the 2nd Human startin Feat...

Sorcerer has a limited Number of arcane spells, but can cast them without preparation / memorizing / pre-seting what spells he is going to use that day.

MotaO get's Spellpool. Spellpool III (level 7) let's you cast any arcane Spells of up to Level 9 - as long as you can cast Spells of that Level yourself. You can repay the Spellpool with smaller Spells, for example casting a level 3 Spell out of the pool and pay with 3 Level 1 Spells. You also can have a "Spellpool Debt" of x3 Caster Level and you can trade smaller Spells for bigger ones.

Quick Calculation of number of Spells:
Level 20 Caster / CHA 22 could cast:
6 Spells Lv 9
26 Spells Lv 9 by paying with levels from smaller Spells
6 Spells Lv 9 by incuring a spell debt of 56
= 38 Level 9 Spells / Day and mind you, *any* arcane Spells of Lv9 the sorcerer does not have to know them in advance...
or alternatively almost 300 Lv1 Spells / Day (a gfair 1000 Magic Missile Projectiles)

All at +6 DC because of Archmage (ok will loose some of the spells by geting this Bonus)

Sorcerer 5 / MotaO 7 / Archmage 5 is done at level 17, stills 3 levels to waste...

I am highly satisfied with the Build so far  ... what else could you Recomend? I got 3 Levles to Spend on something else and need some nice Feats besides the ones i onbviously need for the Build...

A magelord wizard knows and can cast more spells spontaneously than any sorceror ever could. Especially in the spell level 7-9 range.

Magelord?

Uhm, please explain that to me, if i can cast *any* arcane spell existing from the Spellpool and then change it's Element if needed with my Arch Mage power, what else would you want? Spontanous magical effects? Wrong game...

And how many Spells could this Magelord cast a day?

IIRC there is a big minus using the spellpool...doesn't it take one ful round to get the spells from the spellpool?...That IMO really hurts the build.

I don't have the book here, could someone look that up ...?

As Lakom said, "When a caster casts a spell, he takes a full-round action to concentrate on his focus (which provokes attacks of opportunity). The spell appears in the caster's mind at the beginning of his next turn and can be used immediately." It does say that the spell persists in the caster's mind for a number of minutes equal to his level, so he doesn't have to call the spells in the middle of the battle; provided that he knows what spell he wants beforehand...

There is an additional restriction concerning the spellpool: "A spellcaster [...] can call a number of spells per day whose total levels are equal or less than half his caster level..." So even a 20th level caster cannot call more than two 9-level spells per day.

So... that build is not quite as versatile after all...

Yes, its a fullround action that provokes AoO. Nonetheless, very nice idea.

Even worse, half of 20 is 10, so you can only cast a single 9th level spell (plus one 1st level spell) per day, which makes the ability almost useless.

Uh, that "only 1/2 your Level Spells" seems to be new in 3.5 :(

Does Guild Mage of Waterdeep have the same penalties and restrictions? I know only about a 10% EXP penalty...

LOL...if you want versatility just be a wizard instead of the sorcerer and just take 2 levels of Chameleon to get the bonus feat with which you can change out a new Extra Spell feat each day and learn any classes 8th level or lower spells you could ever want, and some at EXTREMELY advantangeous and/or low levels...
