Auralynx 11-15-03, 02:17 AM	The topic headline alone should raise some eyebrows, but here's the deal: My DM and I agree that I can replace Enlarge Spell (which is so horribly useless in 3.5 it's disturbing) with Consecrate Spell, from the Book of Exalted Deeds. This raises the class out of the realm of the mediocre and into that of the fairly competitive, in our eyes, particularly owing to the new synergy with the AD's level 2 alignment focus ability (I'll be choosing Good). Given that change and the fact that I'll be specializing in Evocation (Conjuration and Necromancy prohibited), I could use some suggestions for feats and future advancement. So far I'm planning the following choices through level 12: Ability set is VERY high as the DM likes high-powered games, so Int will start at 17, as will Charisma. Character will be Human, though a different ECL 0 race that increases Int would be all right as well (Sun Elf a possibility). Wizard 1: Spellcasting Prodigy, SF: Evocation Wizard 2: Wizard 3: Improved Initiative Wizard 4: +1 Int Wizard 5 (Bonus Feat): Empower Spell Wizard 6: Consecrate Spell Wizard 7: AD 1 (CL 8): Consecrate Spell 1+Cha mod (probably 4) times/day, +1 Charisma? (Possibly not worth it; undecided.) AD 2 (CL 9): Maximize Spell (Possibly worth defering 'til L12), Alignment Focus: Good AD 3 (CL 10): GSF: Evocation AD 4 (CL 11): AD 5 (CL 12): Quicken Spell, +1 Int Changes to the above, general comments about the AD ability swap, or suggestions for what to do after finishing AD would be entirely welcome. I don't play arcane casters much, so if I overlooked something obvious, it'd be good to know.
Deuteros 11-15-03, 06:34 AM	First off, the only specialist worth it in 3.5 is the Diviner, IMO. Only one banned school and there's always a nice Divination spell for every level: True Strike at 1st, See Invisibility at 2nd, and so on. I think the departure point in wizard levels is 5 or 6. Level 5 will get you the bonus feat while level 6 will grant you a +1 to BAB and all saves. Since Arcane Devotee (AD) requires caster level 7, find a PrC that will get you that + something else for a 1 level dip. 3 levels in Harper Mage (Magic of Faerūn) would work well with the AD since he Extends spells much like the AD Enlarges them (or, in your case, Consecrates them).
