I want to build an arcane hierophant (Prestige class from races of the wild)
I know that the most logical choice for this is to take 3 levels druid, 3 levels wizard and then 10 levels Arcane hierophant.
From there on you can choose to take either 4 levels wizard or 4 levels druid or 2wiz/2druid.
The first two options allow you to reach caster level 17 with either spellcasting class allowing you access to level 9 spells.

I would like to keep my build a bit simpler by replacing the wizard levels with sorceror levels but doing this would keep me away from those lovely level 9 spells because a sorceror gains his first 2nd level spell at level 4 instead of level 3 and he gains his first lvl 9 spell at 18 instead of 17.

Is there a way for a sorceror to get access to a 2nd level spell at lvl 3 or is there another sponteneous casting class that fits my requirements?

Most logical, but also illegal. You're one point shy of BAB+4.

You could also take 4 levels of Mystic Theurge.

...For spellcasting level 17 in both.

There is Precocious Apprentice [CAr]. You could also be an Illumian [RoD], or take Earth Spell [RoS].

Bab...Damn. You're right. I overlooked that.
I'll have to look for a class that gets me that extra BAB in time then...
Thanks for the advice Catharz

If you aren't looking for speed of PrC entry, Mystic Theurge 2 will get you there.

Why didn't I think of that?

Thanks again.

Southern Magician from Races of Faerun can also help.

Neither Southern Magician nor Precocious Apprentice helps qualify you for Arcane Heirophant.

Southern Magician was specifically clarified to not qualify people for PRCs. Precocious Apprentice, as soon as you get a 2nd level spells, becomes a bonus 2nd level spell slot for the class you got 2nd level spells in, so if you get 2nd level druid spells before 2nd level wizard spells, it ceases to allow you to cast 2nd level arcane spells.

I'm sure you're right, but do you know where that was clarified so that i can reference it? It always seemed cheesy to me.
