| Thannin09-08-04, 05:54 PM | For optimization purposes can arcane strike be used more than once per round? My reasoning is it mentions you cant go past your base attack bonus, but you wont be able to use it once to get past your base attack bonus normally anyways, which would suggest multiple usages. Can anyone point out any threads where it discusses it? Im trying to make a tensers transformation melee wizard more powerful. |

Tenser's Transformation should not be the focus of a Wizard because you basically turn yourself into a Warrior with fewer feats for combat. It is more of a "Oh no! I am nearly out of spells and I still have to fight my way out of here!" spell. Arcane Strike is better for Wizards than for Sorcerers since you can you can sacrifice any prepared spell for it. A Sorcerer is better at using Channel Spell and Imbue Spell by virtue of spontaneous casting. |
| carnivore09-08-04, 06:27 PM | personally i would not suggest using tensers(transformation) as you can not cast spells after you cast it(not even spl completion items). but for a very nice combat spell for the wizard who wants to mix it up in melee look here http://www.wizards.com/dnd/article.asp?x=dnd/sb/sb20020511a the spell Bite of the Weretiger Transmutation Level: Sor/Wiz 8, Drd 7 Components: V, S, M Casting Time: 1 action Range: Personal Target: You Duration: 1 round/level You take on certain qualities of a tiger, almost as though you were a weretiger in hybrid form. You gain a +12 enhancement bonus to your Strength score, a +4 enhancement bonus to your Dexterity score, and a +6 enhancement bonus to your Constitution score. Your face lengthens into a tigerlike muzzle and your fingernails grow into sharp claws. You can attack with both claws at your full base attack bonus and your bite at only 2 from your full attack bonus (as if you had the Multiattack feat). The claws deal 1d8 points of damage each (1d6 if you are Small), and the bite deals 2d6 (2d4 if you are Small). You gain the benefits of the Blind-Fight and Power Attack feats as well, and a +5 natural armor bonus. Material Component: Hair from a weretiger. and you can still cast spells , if you really want more , just polymorph or shapechange ...then cast this spell!!!!!!!!! now your new form is even stronger and you have the ability to use 3 feats that you didnt have before. The main difference is transformation gives you BAB of your caster lvl and it is only a 6th lvl spell. IMO I would rather be able to cast spells if I needed to than not. |

Yes you can use it more than once per round (as many times as your DM lets you), but doing so is pointless. The bonuses granted from the arcane strike do not stack with itself: Unnamed Bonuses A bonus that doesn't have a name stacks with anything except itself. This is always true, but it's sometimes hard to remember. For example, many feats provide unnamed bonuses, so don't panic when you read a feat description and it provides a bonus without a name. An unnamed bonus from a feat stacks with any other bonus; however you can't stack that unnamed bonus if you take the feat twice. |
