I intend to exploit the combo of a persistant tenser's transformation and Arcane strike. Persistance of Tenser's transformation is to be attained either through Incantrix's instant metamagic ability (assuming it hasn't been errataed) or the Naenshoon sigil of the Illumian. Target level is anywehere between 11-15.

I have a few builds in mind for this. Warmage6/ incantrix 7 pulls it off by 13 and has full spellcasting allotment for use with Arcane strike. Failing that, cleric1/ warmage 12 is also a fair option for use with the illumian's sigil. Firstly, I would like to ask if anyone knows of any prestige class that offers full arcane spell progression, but grants turning attempts (none come to mind). Lastly, I would ask that anyone having an improvement upon either the concept or the execution of this build please feel free to post. The idea is to keep HP and spellcasting abilities as high as possible (BAB is irrelevant due to Tenser's).

UBER Munckin Alert!
I'm also considering making the build as such wizard 12 with an Ashkrau power sigil, then just polymorphoring into a wartroll at the onset of every encounter. By my math, this will net me significant Bonus spells due to 31 STR. and with dazing blow, an attack of +22 (6 base +10 str + 6 arcane strike), signifcant health (12d4+ 108), and great amounts of damage (assuming a one handed weapon, I would deal 1d6+6d4+ 10). Now, the Tenser's transformation possibly cast in the following round would just become abusive... Keep in mind that this has so far discounted the idea of magic items...

So what do you guys think? Which of the three builds outlined would be best? What suggestions do you have?

Hi,

player of mine tried the same exploit ..

Your mind-set changes so that you relish combat and you can’t cast spells, even from magic items

I ruled that he could not his 'arcane strike' feat much as a caster with rage ability wouldn't be able to cast spells during a rage.

Just my 2 cents

I'm not sure Arcane Strike is prohibited as it is not really spellcasting, but I believe Incantatrix (see the errata) may not raise a spell's level above what he can normally cast (unlike Divine Metamagic and Neanhoon). Kudos on a cool sounding pseudo-Gish plus I love Illumian builds.

Such is a houserule. By RAW, he faces no such limitation.

It'll net you bonus spell SLOTS, yes--but you won't have any spells memorized in those slots, and thus, you won't be able to use them for Arcane Strike. This would work better with a Sorceror than with a Wizard.

Sacred exorcist has full casting and turn undead. Arcane spell casters are able to get into the class at that

If Arcane Strike can add to all natural weapon attacks in the round, consider the Grell. It doesn't take too many hit dice to get to Large, and then you have 10 tentacles with 20 foot reach to put to work!

You can't use Arcane Strike while under the effects of a Tenser's Transformation, according to the RAW.
You lose your spellcasting ability, including your ability to use spell activation or spell completion magic items, just as if the spells were no longer on your class list.
Arcane Strike requires you to be able to cast 3rd level Arcane spells to take the feat. You lose the benefits of a feat if you no longer meet the prerequisites for that feat. Since Tenser's Transformation causes you to temporarily lose your Spellcasting Class Feature entirely, you would no longer meet the requirements for Arcane Strike and would therefore not be able to use it while under the effects of the spell.

Instant Metamagic has been errataed, but Metamagic Effect has not. This is the level 3 ability of the Incantatrix, and does exactly the same thing except it takes another action and a (difficult, if not prepared) spellcraft check.

Also, consider using the Archmage's Spell-Like Ability ability. It conviently allows you to get around the little "Cannot use spells" part of Tenser's Transformation. Apply it to short-duration buffs like Haste, Wraithstrike, and Flame Shield, but nothing with an expensive GP material cost.

Once again, Wizard 5/Incantatrix 10/Archmage 5 wins the game.
