11-01-05, 02:04 PM The build I came up with for an arcane healer is Wiz 18/Death Delver 2.

Death Delver's 2nd level ability says that "they can lose any prepared spell and cast a cure spell of equal or lesser level in its place." It doesn't say "any death delver spell". It says "any prepared spell."

I think it's an interesting hole in the rules.

I'm not sure where Death Delver is, and I don't think I've read it before, but if you quote it accurately, I can see that working. That'd be fun.

11-01-05, 08:23 PM Wizard/Rainbow Servant10 will do the same, and you don't lose caster level. The pre-reqs are pretty easy to meet too.

I agree. Although any wizard that prepared Heal in the place of something like Chain Lightning is asking to be smacked upside the head. Healing 150 hps when you can take out a bunch of bad guys and save over 200 hps of damage is just not cool :D

It's one of the peculiar idiosyncrasies of this board. Because someone was a bit sloppy in the cut-and-pasting, Rainbow Servant's spellcasting text doesn't reiterate that it loses those three levels. That's enough to provoke the battlecry of "text trumps table!"--hence, there's a faction on the CO boards who treat Rainbow Servant as a full spellcasting class.

I see neither the point nor the purpose; nobody has tried to claim that RS was INTENDED to be a full caster class. I have yet to see a single DM actually allow it as such, and doubt that I ever will.

Then again, I'm more into practical optimization, so. :)

However, you could simply take the healing domain through the feat Arcane Disciple to add cure spells to your list. Then you can take 5 levels of combat medic (full casting) and get spontaneous Heal.
