| m15a12-22-04, 01:30 PM | hi, all. after a few attempts at searching, i couldn't find much comment on the split ray feat and double wand wielder feats from complete arcane as they'd work for an arcane trickster. in any case, i'd like help with the feats for my specific character. as far as feats go, most wizards 3.5 books are valid. here's my character's info so far. NG halfling rogue 3/wizard 5/arcane trickster 1 (and on until 10) str 9, dex 18 (20 w/ gloves), con 16, int 19, wis 13, cha 16. feats up to 8th level are: Eschew Materials Weapon Finesse Scribe Scroll Practiced Spellcaster Craft Wands the current configuration of the group is wizard/incantatrix, monk/paladin, rogue, and druid. my character usually acts as a buffer and ray attacker while the main party wizard usually goes for evard's black tentacles or other area of effect spells. as of now, i don't qualify for either the split ray or double wand weilder feats. each would require a prereq feat (another metamagic and two-weapon fighting, respectively). so, basically, i'd like to know if these feats are reasonable options to take at 12th level, or if i should consider something else. split ray, i know, doesn't allow for extra sneak attack damage, but for +2 levels, possibly doubling the (non-SA) damage of a spell seems really worth it. a 6th level split ray orb of acid would do 2d6 damage/level with no save. that seems a little bit more powerful than disintegrate, but i might be wrong. if that seems like a reasonable option, what metamagic feat would be most worth it to qualify? i'm thinking maybe sudden silent might come in handy eventually. though maybe not frequent enough. double wand wielder would allow for two sneak attack touch attacks, which is also pretty good. or at least will be once i level up some. two weapon fighting might be useful in the interim, too, with low armored opponents, correct? if this is the way to go, assuming standard wealth, what would be the most effective and efficient wands to wield? maybe an 11th level scorching ray in the primary hand and acid splash or lesser acid (or something else) orb in the other? any other double wand wielding combos i should consider? might be that i'm going completely the wrong way with these feats, especially since i can't get them until 12th level. so, anything more valuable than what i'm considering? thanks a bunch. |
