I would say yes, without looking anything up and just going off your info here. You of course still need to meet the rest of the requirements.

12-19-06, 11:18 PM Yeah but it's really up your DM. You really want to take 2 levels of Rogue though, evasion is your friend. You could just get a ring later on but 2 Rings of Wizardry is much better. It would also be easier on you to get the skills if you go Rogue 1/Wiz-1-5/Rogue 2

Yes. But, depending on how attached to caster levels you are and what books you have available, you might want to blow a couple of feats to get Assassin's Stance instead (ToB, gives +2d6 sneak attack). Dunno, depends on the environment the character's in. The sub level isn't the only way to avoid rogue levels, though.

or just take a single level of Swordsage at level 9 (ie, after 8 levels of non-swordsage). that way your IL will be 5, and you can cherry-pick Assassin's Stance. just make sure that you also take 1 other Shadow Hand maneuver so you qualify for the Stance.

12-20-06, 03:36 AM Well, Complete mage gave us the perfect way to enter AT even without those substitution levels: Rogue 1/Wizard 4/Unseen seer 1. This'll get you into Arcane trickster perfectly, 3rd level spells, 2d6 sneak attack, and all the required skills in one package.

A good build would be Rogue 1/Wizard 4/Unseen seer 7/Arcane trickster 8 for spells as 19th level Wizard, 8d6 sneak attack and good skills.

i know it's a reasonable interpretation, but by RAW i'm pretty sure it specifically says that the stance a SS gets at level one is a 1st level stance and then goes on to say at later levels you get more stances without specifying a level.

12-20-06, 11:56 AM I've just got to ask how you'd get the Hide 8 and Search 8 with Rogue 1/Wizard 4 since neither are class skills for the Wizard? I mean, spending 2 feats to add them both as class skills (I forget the feat name to do that for a skill, I'm afb) seems less than optimal...

12-20-06, 12:27 PM You only need 7 ranks of Hide and Search. It is best to take atleast 2 levels of rogue. The AT is not a normal spell caster and should not be played like a normal spell caster. You either pay them cross class, or take Able learner (which is a good feat anyway, Unseen seer lacks some good skills you'd want to take as a Rogueish character).
