Arch/Wiz/MT and then? [Archive] - Wizards Community

12-25-06, 09:00 AM I remember seeing a few Archivist/wizard/MT builds lying around teh forum (I damn the broken search option and google for not being able to find 'em)

In essence, you use Alternative Spell Source to get

Archivist 1/Wizard 3/MT 10 (for example)

Where should I go after that, to maxmize dual spellcasting goodness? ^^

I know that if I choose Bamboo spirit folk, I get trackless step, and I can drop a few levels in MT and jump straight to Arcane Hierophant and proceed with that.

But if I can't access that race?

[Edit] Of course, most if not all books are allowed to use. Even Dragon mags. ^^

12-25-06, 05:51 PM Why is dual casting so interesting? A well-built archivist gets enough spells from both sources, but lacks the MT's spell slots.

12-25-06, 07:22 PM Mystic Theurge looks alot better than it is. The only time I would consider playing one is if I'm starting a campaign already epic. They can get obscene at epic levels but in the build up they play extremely underpowered. No 9th level spells :weep:

MT is just bland - not particularly bad (apart from the fact it's 4 levels to short).

Epic MT is a travesty though.

Reason why I'm going for it, is that in the campaign I'm going to play in, two of my friends chose Favored Soul and Sorcerer, as the divine and arcane spellcaster respectivly. And then I come in as the 5th member, so I got a little more freedom in choice, so I thought that rounding out the party would be filling the gaps the two casters are leaving.

I agree, MT is bland and pretty weak, but it makes for good filling as double progression classes are hard to come by. And we never play into the epic levels, so that's not an issue either.

The optimal would be

Wiz 3/Arch 1/MT 6/AH 10

Just lagging one level behind with the arcane spells.
And it ends up 19/17, which nets you 9th level spells in both classes.

Now, is there entry to the AH, without making use of the spirit folk race?
Or do I need 3 levels of druid for that?
