| Voran_Illezou12-09-06, 10:07 PM | I have been wanting to play as an archer for quite some time, and was wondering what base class would be best to start it off, is the PrC "Arcane Archer" in DMG worth takinbg levels in, and what are the best feats to take? Thanks in advance! |
| ksbsnowowl12-09-06, 10:30 PM | is the PrC "Arcane Archer" in DMG worth takinbg levels in? No, the Arcane Archer is utter crap. Take a look at the Archer Build Thread linked in my sig. |

| Ghenesh12-09-06, 11:35 PM | Is the PrC "Arcane Archer" in DMG worth takinbg levels in? No, it actually isn't. But you might want to try this variant: Table: The Arcane Archer Level BAB Fort Ref Will Special 1st +1 +2 +2 +0 Imbue arrow 2nd +2 +3 +3 +0 +1 level of existing arcane spellcasting class 3rd +3 +3 +3 +1 Seeker arrow 4th +4 +4 +4 +1 +1 level of existing arcane spellcasting class 5th +5 +4 +4 +1 Phase arrow 6th +6 +5 +5 +2 +1 level of existing arcane spellcasting class 7th +7 +5 +5 +2 Hail of arrows 8th +8 +6 +6 +2 +1 level of existing arcane spellcasting class 9th +9 +6 +6 +3 Arrow of death 10th +10 +7 +7 +3 +1 level of existing arcane spellcasting class |

Since you can combine mind blade and mind bow enhancements/abilities/feats, you can go back to soulknife after you get 10 levels of the prc and still get better bonuses. (ex: if you have +1 mindblade, weapon focus mindblade, and a +1 soulbow, they stack for a +2 mind blade or soulbow, and you count as having weapon focus: soulbow) With Zen archery, and a dip into something with wis to AC, you get wisdom and strength to damage, wisdom and dexterity to AC, and wisdom to attack. Soulbows also get 5 archery bonus feats, a +5 equivalent bow with all 10 levels (more with soulknife levels), get close combat shot, not to mention 2 good saves and a d10 hit dice. It's also the only way to wield a longbow one-handed so you could walk around in full plate with a heavy shield if you don't dip into a wis AC class. |
