Hi,
I have 32 point build, 1500 gp and 3 levels to play with.
It is for a Faerun based campaign and most wizards books are fine.
I was toying with straight archer type but then thought hmmmmm (silly me why think)
What about a gish build focused aorund fighter type archer at low levels to help stay alive and turning more to melee as you become more potent.
My thought was something along the lines of fighter/sorceror/eldritch knight.

I prefer to play humans but might consider elf for arcane archer.
Would love to hear thoughts on the concept and options. Links to any old threads of a similiar vain would be great as well.

Here's a gish build that gives you lots of feats for archery.

humanparagon3/fighter2/wizard2/spellsword3/EK10

Use the UA variant of the wizard to trade scribe scroll for a fighter feat.

A 2 level dip into arcane archer for a Gish archer with more spellcasting emphasis is a must for the ability to use Imbue Arrows. Take some levels in Order of the Bow Initiate, though, if you're not going to be an elf and want a heavier mundane damage emphasis.

Hi,
I have to start at third is the order you listed the classes the order you feel i should follow? If so why?

The best archer gish is probably Bard 8 / Arcane Archer 2 / Sublime Chord 2 / Eldritch Knight 8, in that order.
CL: 18 (20 with Practiced Spellcaster. 20+ with the Song of Arcane Power).
BAB: 17
Gets Bardic Music, Knowledge, Imbue Arrow, ninth level arcane spells.

Drop 1 level of EK for 1 level of SS, although you have to burn a feat for heavy armour prof... you do get -10% asf!

Armor ain't necessary for gish archer cowboys: they are shrouded in a mystical layera coolness, which is more'n enough for protection, mister.

Ah.. but it is the choice!

Anyway, it nets you +1 Fort, +2 Will, an increased hit die and that includes the -10% asf... not to mention you still get +1 bab and +1 spellcasting!

It seems a good trade-off for a feat

You got a point.
Then what about Fighter 1 / Bard 7 / Arcane Archer 2 / Sublime Chord 2 / Eldritch Knight 9 / Spellsword 1 ?

Not only you don't loose a feat... in fact, you gain an additional one, for some low level slots.

That gives you +1 feat, +1 fort, -1 will/reflex.. do you also lose a cl? I think you do, but if you have practised spellcaster as a feat, as you should, it won't matter. You're not adding your bard level to spells known.. right?

Another option is to go for Ranger 8/Wizard 3/Geomancer 9. All the spells worth having off the Ranger list, most of your feats are pre-bought for you, and you get to cast in armour. Plus, wings!

Hi,
I am liking some of those ideas.
Could I please see some level progressions concenring feats and skills.
Especially interested to hear ideas on skill choices for the paragon one.
I like the bard for early skill points followed by a fighter level for the feat.
I would also love to hear comments on purchases at the start with only 1500 ever bit counts.
I was originally thinking fighter/sorceror and going 16 dex and str with 14 cha the rest 10.
Would love to know what others think for stats with their build suggestions.
Thank you!

Re: Talen Lee's Suggestion...
I believe the Wizard3 is to qualify for Geomancer, and that's about it ?
I would suggest Suel Arcanamach (Complete Arcane) instead, ut has the fighter/gish feel and appropriate spell lists. Also only 2 levels required,so you can have Geomancer10, ready for epic.
Don't know if feasable from a pre-reqs point of view, or whether epic is a concern, but my 2cp.
