| rogerik11-21-05, 05:08 AM | I'm looking for ways how to make my arrows more deadly. In particular I am playing a cleric and would like to: 1. avoid powerlevelling/playing (e.g. combining 10 different PrC) 2. make this available for low-medium lvl char too (no wish, miracle) 3. make this by combining spells, feats and items (respectively concerning the relevance) I am looking for stackable combinations. Btw. the zen archery feat influences only ranged attacks by weapons not range attacks by spells right? |

Feats: Zen Archery, Rapid Shot, Divine Metamagic (Quicken or Persistent, depending on how much cheese you want with your character). Items: Precise weapon enhancement In case it matters, Zen Archery affects all ranged attacks. I say "in case it matters" because clerics have 3 ray spells at most (probably not even that many, unless they took Divine Reach via Hierophant). |

As for arrows, just stick to normal and silvered arrows until level 8 or so when you will start seeing stoneskin, then get some adamanite arrows to bypass the reduction granted by the spell. When you can afford them, Undead Slaying and Construct Slaying arrows are great buys, since most of the time those creatures have poor fort saves, no con score, and almost always have damage reduction that can't be bypassed by piercing weapons. They need 18 HD to even have a 35% chance of survivng a hit from one, and the truly troublesome undead don't actually have very high HD, just a load of Turn Resistance. Getting Bane arrows for other tough opponents might also be something to look out for. A stack of Bane arrows (50) is 8307.5 gp, not a bad price. If you just buy normal, silver, and adamanite arrows, however, you won't die a horrible lonely death in the middle of a nowhere in the underdark, you will just have to put a bit more effort into killing things. |
