Elemental_Elf 01-29-07, 12:59 AM	Archivist / Pally / Bone Knight I’m trying to build a character that uses the Bone Knight Prestige Class. For a long time now I’ve always wanted to use a Paladin but the unwavering devotion to the code of conduct has always turned me away. Last night I happened to browse through some of my books and discovered the Bone Knight. I was awe struck that I had never really read through the class; I suppose I always assumed it was just another Necromantic PrC. At any rate I fell in love with the class because it allows me to be a Paladin but with cooler undead powers and no code of conduct! As for my build I don’t much like the Paladin’s Casting progression. It’s too slow and it doesn’t gain enough spells per day for it to be really fun. So I started thinking about what classes would have better spell progression. The immediate idea was the Cleric but I’m rather bored with that class; I’ve over used it in the past. So I delved around in some of the books I use less often and remembered the Archivist. I like the INT based spellcasting, as I am always a fan of having many as many skill points as humanly possible. Also I love the Spell book, to me its far more realistic then calling up your God and requisitioning the necessary spells. Plus the idea of scouring ancient tombs for ancient lore and ancient spells with an undead retinue just makes me giggle, lol! Here’s what I have so far for the Build. It isn’t 20th level because I doubt the campaign will go much past 16. But if you have any suggestions, please feel free to verbalize your ideas. Race: Gold Dwarf Setting: Forgotten Realms 1. BASIC RUN DOWN - Building a Bone Knight - Choosing Gold Dwarf as a race - Can not be evil - Doesn’t like the Paladin spell progression, so added a level of Archivist - Needs Help choosing a few feats as well as 16th-20th levels - Adding 1 more level of Archivist before Bone Knight levels would allow for quicker access to second level spells but would slow progression to Bone Knight down. Which is a better option? - Will not take a level of Cleric - Is Divine Metamagic worth it in a build like this? Thank you very much for any and all help you can provide for me! Phoenix00 01-29-07, 01:04 AM	use prestige paladin instead of the paladin. Will save you 3 caster levels. Caster levels are important.

JaronK 01-29-07, 01:32 AM	Why don't you combine Ur-Priest with Bone Knight? You'd then have room in your build for other classes, so long as they are casters... Hexblade 4 with the Dark Companion substitution and Paladin of Tyranny 3 are good candidates. JaronK

BigRobC101 01-29-07, 12:07 PM	ok if you have the mounted feats go hospilter in complete warrior as its full BAB, and stacks for lay on hands, gives you a bonus feat, If you take 5 levels of it you get 3 caster levels, for a final caster level for spells per day of 13 which isnt bad.
