Archivist PrCs: Which ones are really worth it? [Archive] - Wizards Community

I've been scouring Crystalkeep, and I've come up with a list of full Spellcasting PrC's for divine casters. What I need to do now is decide if any of them are worth getting into, other than Sacred Exorcist (which is obviously good). Also, what happens when an Archivist gets a domain? Anything?

There may be a better list somewhere, but here's this (doesn't have dragon, dragon magic, 3.0, or complete mage):
Church Inquisitor
Contemplative
Divine Disciple
Divine Prankster
Justiciar of Tyr
Lion of Talisid
Moonspeaker
Morninglord of Lathander
Radiant Servant of Pelor
Runecaster
Seeker of the Misty Isle
Shadowbane Stalker
Stormlord

I'm sure there would be more in the newer books, but I haven't been able to leave work yet.

I was thinking about Ninja 1 / Archivist 4 / Shadowbane Stalker 2 / Divine Oracle 2 / Sacred Exorcist 1 to start out with, maybe advancing Shadowbane Stalker. Ninja over Rogue b/c of campaign rules (no PHB races or classes; all races have favorite class: any). Its a 36 PB and we start at 50000 xp and gp. Is it even worth it, though, to get all these extra class abilities, or would Archivist be just fine?

Page 20 of Complete Divine will tell you what happens when an Archivist gets a domain.

Shadowbane Stalker isn't full spellcasting; it loses two spellcasting levels.

I'm always tempted just to stick with Archivist. You could also try Loremaster, though.

as WombleHunter pointed out, it's pretty much best to stick with Archivist, cause let's face it being able to set it up so your teammates can erradicate stuff easier is ALWAYS a good things.

as to Lion of Talisid, well you have to have an animal compainion as a class feature to qual, something that the Archivist doesn't have.

Moonspeaker is pretty much a Shifter only PrC, though a Archivist Shifter might qual for it.

Seeker of the Misty Isle is nice, but really better for a ranger/ cleric or just cleric, and of course ya gotta be an elf or half-elf to qual.

... and well that's all that comes to mind.

Archivist until you have the pre-requisites for Sacred Exorcist 1 Level dip, begin to abuse Divine Metamagic
Take a 2 level dip of Divine Orcale for Evasion.
At level 11, take a 1 level contemplative dip. Take the sun domain.
At level 12, take 2 levels of Radiant Servant of Pelor (Uh, 2 levels = empowered heals, right?)

That will give you the Sun and Orcale Domain for free, Evasion, Trap Sense +1, Greater Turning (which likely can also power DMM, talk to your DM), Full Armor and Shield proficienies (Even tower! WOOT WOOT!), full simple and martial weapnons (yeah, RSoP is kinda strange), the domain from contemplative, and sacred exorcists' lovely ability to own...er...turn undead.

No caster levels lost, you still get Dark Knowledge (Foreknowledge), your BAB is still at 10 (not so nice). 17d6+3d8. Saves are 14/4/19 I believe (take 2 from Fort if Sacred exorcist doesn't progress fort).

The best part is: 1 pre-requisite feat: Skill Focus: Knowledge Religion, 13 ranks of Knowledge Religion, and 5 ranks of heal to do it all. Plus extra turning, which you'll be taking to abuse DMM somehow anyways.

Depending on what you value, a level of Prestige Paladin will put your BAB to 11, give an extra d10, smite evil, detect evil, and 2 extra fort at the cost of 2 will. It takes a worthless (mostly) feat though. And it also takes out Foresight. Generally I'd leave it alone.

Crystal Keep isn't so good a list as one would expect.
