| thisisntadam08-03-04, 03:21 PM | I have played rogues basically all of my D&D life but I am currently playing a wizard. I am going to take the Archmage PRC soon but I am wondering why many people think it is so powerful. I understand and see why it is a nice class to have but I am lacking at seeing any exremely strong abilities. Could you please help me see how to best use the archmage PRC. Right now I am ELC 11 and will start the archmage class at ECL 14. Thanks. |
| ShadowCrown08-03-04, 03:26 PM | The 3.0 version was the really brutally powerful version, mainly due to spell power boosting save DC instead of caster level. It's alright in the 3.5 version, but it's not amazing. |
| Penguin Master08-03-04, 03:28 PM | In 3.5 one of their best abilities is Mastery of Elements. Energy substitution on steriods. |

| Fromost the Grimm08-03-04, 06:29 PM | Mastery of Shaping is mighty fine if your Wizard is a fireball-slinging Evocator. You never have to worry about catching party members in friendly fire again . . . fireball at will, and shape pockets of safety around them. Is especially fun with widened maximised empowered sonic fireballs. :) |
| PhaedrusXY08-03-04, 06:32 PM | Some people like the Arcane Fire ability because it bypasses Spell Resistance and gives you a decent offensive power to use against creatures with very high SR. |
| McHalfling08-03-04, 07:06 PM | where in the 3.0 dmg is the Archmage prc description at, cuz im not finding it anywhere thx |
| PhaedrusXY08-03-04, 07:10 PM | Originally posted by McHalfling where in the 3.0 dmg is the Archmage prc description at, cuz im not finding it anywhere thx It wasn't in the 3.0 DMG. In 3.0, it was in the Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting. In 3.5, they put it into the DMG. |
