Does spell resistance apply? Because arcane fire is neither a spell nor a magical item, can you use it while using Transformation? If so, BAB 20 no SR no Save extreme range touch attack...... not bad.

Does spell resistance apply?No, it is a supernatural ability. SR doesn't apply to those. Because arcane fire is neither a spell nor a magical item, can you use it while using Transformation? This would be up to the DM, but technically I don't think you could. You have to sacrifice spell slots to use it, which implies some access to your spellcasting ability. If so, BAB 20 no SR no Save extreme range touch attack...... not bad. It's still pretty good without the BAB +20. ;)

If you're a Wizard, at least you always have an attack spell at the ready. That leaves room for versatility in the rest of your spells for the day I would think. Then again I'm a fan of the simple Fighter1/Sorcerer6/EldritchKnight9/Archmage4

Narcanos 04-26-05, 10:12 PM	Well, for one 9th level slot, you pretty much get a spontaneous casting spell that isn't subject to SR or saves, isn't elemental, and amps up with caster level quite strongly. It also means you won't need the ability to change the elemental status of your attack spells more often than not, so you might save yourself an 8th level slot in exchange. On top of that, you can load up on utility, defensive, and mobility spells with the knowledge that even a first level slot is going to do more than most 5th level spells. Not bad....especially if you're a diviner or other specialist wizard (it doesn't specify which spell slot you give up) Edit: Oh wait.... it's the class level of the archmage, not the caster level that determines damage. I had thought you were doing 20d6 damage minimum per strike.This moves it from "unbelievably awesome" to the more mundane "kinda crappy.

An Empowered Maximized Force Orb is a 9th level spell that does 90 points of damage, no SR, no resistance, nd affects ethereal creatures. And I'm not counting the possibility of the caster being an Incantatrix :D
