We use all books and mags and a 32 point buy, so, let's see if anyone has any input? I would like to include all levels rather than just a quick dip. -=TD=- |
| lonewolf02-15-06, 06:29 PM | There was a thread about this a good while ago. I think the main trick is to take 2 levels of Bard first to gain: Skills Arcane spellcasting Martial Weapon Proficiencies Exotic Weapon Proficiency(whip) Then you take 3 levels of the divine spellcasting class of your choice and enter Ardent Dilletant. This qualifies you for all levels of Ardent Dilletant without wasting feats or losing too much spellcasting. For the last requirement("You must have died and returned to life or unlife"), there is also a nice trick: You travel to the plane Ysgard, look for a nice safe and secret spot there and commit suicide. In the morning, you are automatically True Ressurected. Have fun. |
| Slyver02-15-06, 06:34 PM | Hmm, This is just off the top of my head. I've never made one before. Rogue 1/Sorcerer 2/Cloistered cleric 1 (I tried to be good, didn't take)/Rogue 1/Ardent dilletante 5/Fochlucan lyist 1/Sublime chord 1/Ardent dilletante 5/Fochlucan lyrist 3 9th level spells, 20th caster level for sorcerer and SC, 11 BAB, 5th level cleric casting, 4th level bardic music, full rogue abilities. Or, with either shadow template or MoI chakra feats to get evasion, Cloistered cleric 2/Bard 3/Ardent dilletante 10/Fochlucan lyrist 5 20th level cleric casting (8th level spells, could be 9th with +1 cleric -1 bard), 8th level bard music and spellcasting, 13 BAB (20 with divine might, persistent if you want). No idea about feats, they are all potentially open, and you get 3 bonus. Really depends on the direction you want to go. Slyver |

| the shaderaven02-15-06, 07:54 PM | I second Cleric 3/Bard 2/Ardent dilletante 10/Fochlucan lyrist 5 especially if there is a non-cheesy way to cover the Fochlucan Lyrist requirements. If Book of Exalted Deeds is allowed... no I dont have Vow of Povetry in mind. Take a look at the Sanctified Spells. The good things about them are: 1) Good clerics (such as our NG guy) can spontaneously convert prepared cleric spells to sanctified spells - so far so good, spontaneous casting never hurts. 2) Although a bit situation specific sanctified spells are better than normal cleric spells for the tasks they are created to accomplish - even better:) The only thing better than spontaneous spells are powerfull situational spontaneous spells. The bad thing is that they require quite unpleasant sacrafice to be cast mostly in the form of ability damage. But lets take a look at one specific sanctified spell... Phoenix Fire - a 7th level spell that does 2d6 point of damage per level to evil targets (half that damage to neutral ones) in 15 ft. spread around you. Half of the damage is fire and half of it is divine. Not bad so far - its average damage is a bit more than maximised flamestrike, takes the same level slot and even has better DC. Lets look at the cost though - you die and are resurected 10 mins latter suffering the appropriate level loss... and the appropriate level loss for you is - none:) Meanwhile unless I'm reading the resurect description wrong - you are healed to full hp and all your ability modifiers are restored. Includind the ones lowered by using sanctified spells. Not a game breaking trick, but another neat one in the sleeve of the Dilettante. |
