I write this post because i beg to differ. Tonight i was working out the worth of a custom legacy weapon, using the standard prices from the DMG to determine the costs of the upgrades for the different menus. This is what i found! All prices are approximate, as some of the upgrades where obviously very powerful in comparison with the others of their type. I ignored those tending to go for approximate values relating to the most occurring costs. Least Menu A....4000 Menu B....8000 Menu C....12000 Lesser - The lesser abilities ranged quite widely in cost so these are VERY rough Menu D....16000 Menu E....22000 Menu F....36000 Greater Menu G....40000 Menu H....70000 Menu I....100000 Now as you can see it becomes immediately obvious that it is more efficient to aim to get a new ability at each level. However, it is only possible to gain access to very powerful abilities by sacrificing menu slots for lesser and greater. In my opinion a legacy weapon costs between 50K and 80K to "level up", but the combined bonuses sum to around 300K at 20th level. In some cases all this costs is -3 to all skills and -20 HP. But even the more extreme costs are far outweighed by the bonuses. Also remember that all these abilities are in a single slot, leaving all the others for the rest of your 600K spending money to go on. But wait, it gets better. There is no restriction on the number of these that can be taken. AND you can also take one as an item familiar. I would really welcome a different perspective on this because at the moment it seems to good to be true. |
