| Ryum09-16-04, 04:23 PM | It can be any race I can use any type of bow I've never played a ranger damage dealer before so I am open to any idea's I know there is a hurling hurkler build that is really great, but would like to stick to ideas that include my character using projectiles as opposed to bouders My recent interest of using a character that does a lot of damage with a ranged weapon comes from the realization that I can shoot my arrows/whatever at a steep angle so even if I miss I will still land close to my target allowing aoe effects on the arrow to still to work just to specify, at most the character can be 6 of one class, and 6 of another class. Or 5 of one class and 6 of the other if the race has a LA or the points can be distributed to allow PrC or 2 like I can have 5 of a class, and 4 of another class and 2 class level in a PrC and 1 class level in another PrC |

| ksbsnowowl09-16-04, 05:02 PM | Click on the link to my Archer Build Thread in my sig. There is a Sniper build there that can deal damage in the hundreds. |
| Mr. Dog09-16-04, 06:34 PM | The key is to have deepwood sniper 2, and peerless archer 3. Everything else is just gravy. |
| Zan09-16-04, 07:03 PM | It can be any race I can use any type of bow I've never played a ranger damage dealer before so I am open to any ideas I know there is a hurling hurkler build that is really great, but would like to stick to ideas that include my character using projectiles as opposed to bouders Look for "Master thrower", maybe you'll like it. I think there was a topic about that not so long ago. It's about throwing knives as touch attacks and sneak attacking regardless of being seen and in front of your enemy. |
| Ryum09-19-04, 04:02 AM | thanks ksbsnowowl will take me a while to absorb that amount of info But being a sniper does sound extremely cool I have the complete warrior guide, so are you suggesting that I do not use that book for info? I can borrow Sword and Fist, and Masters of the Wild but havn't heard of Silver Marches will ahve to look into that |
| ksbsnowowl09-19-04, 10:46 AM | I have the complete warrior guide, so are you suggesting that I do not use that book for info?I prefer the Sword and Fist version of OotBI, but really all you need for that sniper build is Masters of the Wild (for DWS), Silver Marches (for Peerless Archer), and Magic of Faerun (for Hunter's Mercy. As I said in the thread, you can fill those last levels with any +1 BAB class; it doesn't have to be OotBI. |
| carnivore09-19-04, 02:57 PM | take a look at my Hin Hurler |
| Sardrakh09-19-04, 03:47 PM | One should also mention the Cragtop Archer from Races of Stone. In combination with a composite greatbow with the distance special ability, the Farshot Feat and the aforementioned Deepwood Sniper you can shoot targets from up to 5950 feet away. Add one level from the Elocator PrC and only ranged weapons, spells and other flying opponents can harm you. |
| Part-Human209-21-04, 02:17 AM | I keep thinking that Large Greatbows from Complete Warrior do 2d8 and are only 200 gp/Mighty (Str) plus. So some Large and/or Strong low LA humanoid Fighter 12/whatever X with +10 STR 30 (for example) +4 Weapon Specialization and Greater Weapon Specialization +5 Bow +1 Point Blank Shot (within 30 ft) +1 Bracers of Archery, Greater +5 Impact weapon enchantment (XPH) = 2d8 +26 You should be able to max To Hit easily along the way. And a few Feats + Haste makes 7 attacks/round at +16 BAB. Of course cranking up STR via a bigger/strong (and higher LA) race would get more damage but fewer attacks/round in the long run. |
