| fricot_104-14-06, 05:33 PM | my character is a shield dwarf cleric4/ fighter4 my stats are... (and i used a generator) str-20 dex-14 con-18 int-11 wis-16 cha-9 my original idea was to become a hammer of moradin (it being the most highly regarded dwarven organization) so i took the feats... iron will weapon focus (WH) quick draw combat expertise dodge mobility *spring attack *whirlwind attack *i have been playing him since level 4 (a cleric) and he was tainted (heroes of horror) wnough to grant him two feats. then later on he and his party fought off liches to free some slave guys in a ex-cursed-temple-of-moradin, after this he was cured from the taint by a priest i was wondering if it would be worth it to take levels in hammer of moradin (at least three for Powerful Grip) and if it is not then what prestige/base classes should i take next? |

At this level you should never go back to base classes, they give you little to nothing compared to prestige classes. Take 10 levels of HoM and stick 2 levels of Deepwarden into the mix as soon as possible. This should give you a good melee build. If you want more casting, I suggest Warpriest. |

| fricot_104-15-06, 04:03 PM | they say WW isnt worth it but people oftern underestimate what whirlwind attack can do the idea for taking it was that i use Spring attack to go 25 feet into a crowd, attack, then 5 feet out. (boots of striding and springing + mythril full plate). next round i use quick draw to take out a polearm (10 ft. reach) and whirlwind attack, hitting everyone within 10ft. and how do i not qualify for combat expertise?.. i hope i didnt overlook anything |

Don't tell me I underestimate what Whirlwind Attack does when you don't even know how it works. and how do i not qualify for combat expertise?.. i hope i didnt overlook anything13 INT prerequisite and you have 11. |
| Carnage22004-15-06, 05:34 PM | what your planning with whirlwind works but it really becomes less useful as you gain levels. i believe you need a +6 attack bonus to have whirlwind so i will take it at +6 you have 2 attacks 1 at 6+str and 1 at 1+str now if you have 2 or more baddies within striking distance than whirlwind might be the best. 2 or more attacks at 6+str. when you have 3 attacks it is less useful because you need 3 or more baddies around you.....not really where you want to be. also you want to concentrate fire on 1 baddie and your second attack should have a decent chance to hit. so 3 or more a 11+str or 3 at 1 baddie where you should hit 2 times. once you get haste from boots, spell, weapon, it becomes worthless because concentrating fire on enemies is always better. you now have more attacks that should hit. it is good against lots of mooks but as you get higher in level even mooks don't fall with 1 hit all the time. |
