| Liquid-Water07-22-05, 02:55 PM | can you make a char build that is impervious to all forms of damage, under level 50? This is more for the power gamers of the message boards so no noobs please... Ps no divine ranks and no items, and all with 3.5 wizard books no third party or old books |
| Tyreus07-22-05, 03:20 PM | An epic ghost wizard with a ring of elemental immunity. An epic spell (or several to reduce spellcraft check) that reflects all melee and ranged attacks, all targeted and area of affect spells, and all epic spells. Or any character with an item of monsterous regeneration and favor of Ilmatar. Monsterous regeneration turns all damage into subduel, favor of Ilmatar makes you immune to subduel. (I think that's what the spell is called) You might still need immunity to fire and/or acid, seeing as those might get by the monsterous regeneration. |
| cvazi07-22-05, 03:41 PM | psion uncarnate (10) manifesting null psionics field can only be hit by a soulknife tha makes it's concentration check. |
| Mr. Dog07-22-05, 07:07 PM | Half-black dragon war troll with favor of illmater, assuming you ignore the ruling that skip made. Also, a dread champion (here (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/psm/20030628a) ) with some source of regeneration (like being a troll, or troll-blooded, below). It states that they're immune to subdual. It also states that despite not having a con score, they keep any regeneration or fast healing. Thus, immune to damage (except the stuff your regeneration doesn't work against). Both easily accomplished pre-epic. There's an issue of Dragon Magazine (not sure if you consider that official or not) that has a feat called "Troll-Blooded" which grants regeneration 1, as a troll (fire/acid vuln.), but also gives the drawback of being fatigued in daylight. That can work as the source of regeneration for the above examples. Then again, a human with that feat, a feat that makes you immune to fatigue (one exists), the half-gold dragon template (fire immunity) and the saint template (acid immunity), is similar to the Half-Black dragon war troll above, but human instead of a Troll. All you need at this point (all still pre-epic) is the Soulfire enhancement on some armor or a shield (prevents energy/ability drain), the ability to survive without breathing and eating/drinking (ioun stone or similar item), and you're nigh-invulnerable. Make sure you can teleport or planeshift in case someone places a large mountain on you. And get an item made that casts "Refreshment" from the book of exalted deeds on you whenever you are dealt subdual damage. Heh. Alternately, play a dwarf druid/master of many forms, take two levels of Deepwarden, and change into a Shambling Mound. Get a tiny weapon that only deals 1 point of damage made out of Hizagkuur from Magic of Faerun (+1 fire and electrical damage). Hit yourself with it twice, get 2d4 con. The points of con go away at the rate of one per hour. Rinse, repeat. Eventually, you have infinite AC (con to AC, deepwarden 2), infinite HP (From Con), and infinite Fort save. You uh, win. |
| Erudite07-22-05, 07:30 PM | Hey, don't forget Starmantle, the neato spell from BoED. Make a DC 15 reflex save to take half damage from any weapon attack on you. Of course, if you have evasion, you take none at all...and you can get it as a magic item. |
| AramilWindwalker07-22-05, 07:57 PM | It's called starmantle cloak, found at the site www.crystalkeep.com affordable pre-epic, but i'm not sure evasion applies to it... |
| SigmaJargon07-22-05, 08:11 PM | *snip* Then again, a human with that feat, a feat that makes you immune to fatigue (one exists), the half-gold dragon template (fire immunity) *snip*You have to keep in mind that Searing Spell is out there. Simply being immune to fire might very well not be enough. A source of regeneration without fire vulnerability (lightning too, probably, with Stromwrack coming out) would be perfect. Cold vulnerability is acceptable, since you simply need the cold subtype to ignore Piercing Chill. |
| Mr. Dog07-22-05, 08:29 PM | By RAW, Starmantle Cloak (or the spell) would both benefit from evasion. It states that a character with the spell or item may make a DC 15 reflex save to take only half damage from a magical weapon. Evasion (Ex): At 2nd level or higher if a monk makes a successful Reflex saving throw against an attack that normally deals half damage on a successful save, she instead takes no damage. Ergo, no damage. |
| Erudite07-22-05, 09:08 PM | Starmantle...it pays to be G O O D. |
| Calatash07-22-05, 09:13 PM | You have to keep in mind that Searing Spell is out there. Simply being immune to fire might very well not be enough. A source of regeneration without fire vulnerability (lightning too, probably, with Stromwrack coming out) would be perfect. Cold vulnerability is acceptable, since you simply need the cold subtype to ignore Piercing Chill. Unless they are a Frost Mage. Then you take half (?) damage. |

| Tempest Stormwind07-22-05, 11:21 PM | Nerts, DisposableHero beat me to it. I suppose a fundamentally different approach would involve Time Hop -- the best defense is to simply not exist at all when the damage comes your way. |
| TinManFan07-23-05, 01:07 AM | Trollish Fortitude (Turns all non acid-non fire dmg into subdual dmg) + Favored of Illmater (Immune to Subdual Dmg) + 2 castings of Elemental Immunity Very happy caster. Do this as a Curst since the only way they can die is from the Remove Curse spell and persistant up a Spell Immunity spell and yer good to go. |
