Aristocrat 1/Bard 4/ [Archive] - Wizards Community

02-13-07, 11:57 AM I plan on taking Aristocrat lvl 1(yes the NPC class), I find that the bonus in game of getting respect from commoners, bookoo starting cash, actualy being a noble in the campaign, the extra 2 HP at 1st lvl, +2 will saves, +1reputation(if you use that variant), and access to all weapons/armour/shields, is well worth the loss of 1 lvl of bard spells, 8 skill points, and offset of bard abilities.
I then will take bard 4 levels, focusing on profession(storytelling), this would make a killer political character, and a decent combat backup as well.

What feats would you suggest i take(assuming im going to spend most of my time in nobles courts, and in political adventures, where combat occurs a normal amount of the time).
What skills?
What Prestigue class? or should i go for more lvls of bard 1st?

If you want to be a solid, upright nobleman sort, take things to make you more Diplomatic. Maybe even use the 4-level Diplomancer build as part of your progression (if you feel like being a half-elf).

If you want to be a combative type - maybe one of those Nobles who would rather be a soldier - go Ari1/Bard7/Warweaver3/SublimeChord2/WW3-5 and finish with any class that gives you +1 Spellcasting, dumping into SC.

If you want to be a sneaky little crook, angle yourself into the Spymaster PrC.

02-13-07, 04:51 PM Consider taking the Noble (DLCS) instead of the Aristocrat. They're fairly similar, but the Noble has actually got some class features that may be of interest.

As for Prestige classes, it really will all depend on exactly what you want to do with the character, and what books/options you have available.

Assuming this character is going to have a high charisma, you may want to look to classes that will gain a benefit from that. I have found the Marshall (Mini) to be an excellent multiclass option for a bard. Paladin of Freedom (UA) is another good one, if you're using that variant.

One major question that you need to answer, though, is exactly what you want this character to be. Combat? Support? Spellcasting? Manipulation?
From a basic start of "bard", there are many, many directions you can go in...
