Artifcer Gish? [Archive] - Wizards Community

12-09-05, 04:35 PM Is it possible to make an artificer gih build? Im pretty sure that infusions don't qualify you for Gish classes or is that just my imagination?
Anyway, warforged artificer15/spellcarved soldier5 with Sub-levels seems to be about the closest you can get to a gish short of custom items of divine power etc. and even then artifcer 20 could be better...

So, is there anyway to make an artificer gish?

12-09-05, 07:42 PM Why would you need the prestige classes? A Brawlificer does just fine on his own, after about seventh level.

12-09-05, 07:56 PM Caelic is right. Artificer is a gish on its own, due to his ability to use Wands of Divine Power. Metamagic Item Persistent Spell into the wand, and you're as Gish as you'll ever need to.

12-09-05, 08:24 PM The only potential shortcoming is the Artificer's relative fragility; spells like False Life are almost a must. If your DM is mad enough to allow you to make Consumptive Field Persistent, better still.

Of course, the fragility is relative, what with access to so many persistable defensive wand spells, such as (Greater) Mage Armor, Shield, and Alter Self, to name a few. You can also make the equivalent of persistent buffs with extended magic vestments (if Mage Armor and Shield don't suit your fancy), leaving last-minute defensive buffs to wand spells such as Shield of Faith and Conviction. Offensively, you can always go with extended greater magic weapon (combined with a +1 weapon with various elemental properties), persistent divine favor and persistent divine power, for starters.

Of course, none of this comes close to the raw power of the blastificer, but it's a nice change from your typical wand blaster.

12-10-05, 12:49 AM Finally, warforged arent that frail when you consider many of their infusions work on them. Basically getting stoneskin, healing, etc, you're a cleric all your own.

False life = reinforce construct for the warforged, good stuff.
