08-28-05, 01:57 AM Im playing a Warforged Mineral warrior/Artificer 2 right now (despite the fact that its not legal... Dm approved) and i was hoping someone could point me to the important Artificer threads. There was the optimized artificer thread.. The persistant thread would be nice... and Im sure there are some other threads that would be usefull. Help me please?

Also accepting further character build advice.

08-28-05, 01:01 PM This is a combination of a Buffificer and an Artificer, but it requires two flaws. Without flaws, skip either Reach Spell/Chain Spell or Energy Substitution and Energy Admixture (feats will shuffle down and up a bit to compensate).

Artificer (Buffer/Blastificer Variant)
Artillery, trappist, tank

32 point-buy: STR: 8 DEX: 10 CON: 14 INT: 16 WIS: 8 CHA: 16

1. Artificer 1: Artificer Knowledge, artisan bonus, disable trap, item creation, Scribe Scroll, Skill Focus (UMD,), Energy Substitution (sonic), Reach Spell
2. Artificer 2: Brew Potion
3. Artificer 3: Craft Wondrous Item, Extend Spell
4. Artificer 4: Craft Homonculus, Legendary Artisan
5. Artificer 5: Craft Magic Arms and Armor, retain essence
6. Artificer 6: Metamagic spell trigger, Quicken Spell
7. Artificer 7: Craft Wand
8. Artificer 8: Wand Mastery
9. Artificer 9: Craft Rod, Persistent Spell
10. Artificer 10:
11. Artificer 11: Metamagic Spell Completion
12. Artificer 12: Energy Admixture, Craft Staff, Extraordinary Artisan
13. Fighter 1
14. Fighter 2
15. Artificer 13: Skill Mastery, Twin Spell
16. Artificer 14: Forge Ring

I can't use that build exactly as I am level 3 already but there are some good feat pointers in there that i can use.

My stats ended up as Str 18 Cha 18 Int 18 Con 10 Dex 10 Wis 10 (don't ask how)

I took one of the Artisan feats (the one with 25% less xp) at level 1 and havent picked level 3 yet.

The engergy substitution/admixture combo seems decent enough.. unless im wrong it effectively doubles the damage dice of a spell?

I don't have that many feats tho.. no flaws and I'm a warforged.

I can use pretty much ANY source tho.

08-28-05, 01:57 PM Go for Twin Spell before Sub/Admix. More versatile, works on non-elemental spells, and requires one feat, not two.

The Holy Trifecta for an Artificer: Persistent Spell, Twin Spell, Quicken Spell.

Everything past that is gravy.

Are there any artificer PrC's? I have yet to see any good ones.. (any really)

08-29-05, 11:42 PM There are no real prestige classes for artificers; they do not need them however. Taking a PrC for roleplaying or flavor reasons is fine, but NOTHING power ups an Artificer. Maybe if they come out with a psionic artificer PrC for Complete Psionics, maybe then...

Yeah i did that already. I just figured that artificer is established enough of a class to get an entry in the library.
