| GoodGuy8904-02-05, 09:09 AM | Since Search is down, and after looking through over 40 pages, I think that it's time to ask for help. What I'm looking for, is all Artificer builds posted here, including Blastificers and Buffers. Also, any Artificer hint and tips would be welcome. Any help would be appreciated. |
| Bone Machine04-02-05, 09:56 AM | http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=287275 that was on p3 of this board http://boards1.wizards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=504 see sticky thread on top of that forum (the eberron PC classes forum) |
| GoodGuy8904-02-05, 10:13 AM | I have seen and read through both of these threads, but thanks anyway. (Probably should have said that in first post :embarrass ) |
| Bone Machine04-02-05, 10:21 AM | Maybe if you had a specific question that isn't covered in those threads? They cover the bases pretty well. Otherwise, there aren't many Artificer Opt pages that add anything beyond those 2. |
| GoodGuy8904-02-05, 12:43 PM | Specifically, I'm looking for help with the levels fourth through tenth, as that is probably how long the campaign will span. This means that "invincible-at-level-18" builds won't be needed. As the party already has a wizard and a rogue/sorcerer, I will probably be more of a support character than a blaster. So: How to become a valuable and efficient character within the levels 4-10?Books allowed are 3.5 core, the Complete series and the ECS. |
| Bone Machine04-02-05, 02:25 PM | hmmm If you have no primary melee character, you might think about a WF artificer. You can repair yourself, enchant/enhance yourself with bane, AC buffs, weapon buffs etc, craft your own WF component parts. Try Adamantine Body feat for great AC+DR, deliver touch spells (spell storing item) via your Armblade or Battlefist...once you can craft wands you can go the persistant buff direction with Extend/Persistant Metamagic feats. there was a thread a few weeks ago re: a WF artificer iirc also, I think Heroic Spirit is great for an artificer -- you will want xtra APs to burn on insta-infusions |
| GoodGuy8904-02-05, 05:26 PM | Whoops, forgot to mention the Barbarian of the party. Kinda feels like I'm wasting your time here. I also felt that warforged were too low on feats (one down compared to humans, and another for a body feat.) So far, it's human artificer 4, with Skill Focus (UMD), Heroic Spirit and Point Blank Shot. His fourth level bonus feat was Extraordinary Artisan. He uses his crossbow, as well as a wand of Lesser Orb of Fire. Also, as the groups only healer, I have invested in two wands of CLW, which I hope will be enough. His homonculus is an Iron Defender, to tank for him, and my stats (32 pt.) STR 12 (this is to avoid the heavy load, as I cannot afford a Hevards yet. DEX 14 (for AC and ranged attacks) CON 12 (rolled 5, 3, and 2 on HD, so this is kina needed) INT 16 (for infusions) WIS 8 (dump stat) CHA 16 (15, +1 at fourth, for UMD) Any suggestions for improvements, and for my 6th level feat? |
| Bone Machine04-02-05, 09:00 PM | lucky! I get a 25pt buy in our campaign:( If crafting is your focus, you could grab legendary artisan @ lvl6. The op threads focus on metamagic feats for uber-blasting/buffing, so that's an option. Some folks think skill focus:umd isn't ultimately worth it, so with a decent pt buy I might pass on it for a meta feat or something. Instead, craft yourself a +umd item. 1312.5gp +xp for a +5 umd circlet that is restricted to artificer class (cost2500 -30%class restr -25%feat) The lesser orb wand is a good idea, I might go for sonic or acid instead. The loss of a feat is nothing compared to the gains you get from being WF - our WF fighter is CONSTANTLY frustrating our DM saying "um i'm immune to that" or "I'll just walk through that lake" or similar. |
| Caelic04-03-05, 11:52 AM | Ehrm...are you sure you read the Optimized Artificer thread? I don't mean that offensively, but most of the builds there focus on the midgame levels; there are really very few "invincible at level 18 and up" Artificer builds. Most of them come into their own right around level 7. |
