| Adolph_Kheebler01-29-07, 09:58 PM | I am starting with an artificer in a new campaign with a very strange multiclass houserule. There is no multiclassing xp penalties. Also at every 4th level we get a gestalt level. One class of the gestalt must be your favoured class. I am playing a human and I need suggestions for gestalt levels and possible multiclassing. |
| Blade271801-29-07, 10:10 PM | So it sounds like you're going to get a ECL 20/ECL 5 gestalt, is that correct? Take one level in the favored class (go human so you get Favored Class: Any) and 4 dip levels in any 4 PrCs that you qualify for and have abilities that intrigue you. |
| Adolph_Kheebler01-29-07, 10:21 PM | Yes that is correct. I would like some suggestions of things that synnergize well with artificer. I have never played one before. |
| Blade271801-29-07, 10:26 PM | Hm. Maybe a level of Cleric for Turn Undead and two domains that give you feats/abilities you want? That's always a good deal. |
| ksbsnowowl01-29-07, 10:52 PM | Note, I'm not saying this is a great suggestion, just one possibility. You could just blow one or two levels on dips into wizard and/or cleric, as they would allow you to use a wide variety of wands and staffs without needing to make UMD checks. Cannith Wand Adept would be great; just about the only reason one wouldn't take it normally is that you lose out on Craft Reserve. |
| catharz01-29-07, 11:54 PM | This might be a major departure from what you were planning, but consider combining Artificer and Chameleon. Level 1-5 are Artificer, with the 4th gestalt being something with Disguise and Bluff (rogue if you're going low-impact, cleric for the powergamer). Levels 6-15 are chameleon, with the gestalts at 8 and 12 being Artificer. Alternatively you could go to Chameleon 7 and then switch back to Artificer (with chameleon in the gestalt levels). The Cannith wand adept suggestion is also a good one. |
| Adolph_Kheebler01-30-07, 12:41 AM | The Cannith Wand Adept is interesting, but probably unusable. I forgot to mention that I am not in Eberron and using artificer on an import. We are actually in an OA setting. Most things can be adapted, but something that specific would be tough. The chameleon thing is an interesting build, but is really too far from my concept. |

| Elderich01-31-07, 12:18 PM | I will jump off catharz's suggestion. 1-4 artificer, 1 cham 5-8 art, 2 cham. Now you have a floating feat to craft anything you want, and can adventure with a new feat. Rather powerful. I don't know how to finish it, but if you can get a familiar you can become the ultimate bufficer. |
| Yami01-31-07, 01:28 PM | The chameleon thing is an interesting build, but is really too far from my concept. Maybe you could go over what your character concept is, and we can help you more from there. :) |
