Artificer/crafting requirements [Archive] - Wizards Community

09-26-06, 10:21 PM Having some issues with craft (stuff) requirements. If I want to make wands, armor, staffs, etc., do I need to take the craft skill, and if so, what do i take and how much? Planning on playing an artificer, but confused on the crafting rules, and the books are highly ambiguous.

A wand is a hunk of wood.
An artificer must have the Craft feats to make any item magical.

ie, the craft skill lets you make Platemail
the craft arms and armor feat lets you make Magic Platemail

Most people prefer to skip the craft skill and Fabricate or buy the masterwork platemail as opposed to 3 months of crafting.
