| Llochlyn01-15-06, 08:35 PM | Maybe that was said before, but it's nice repeating such a thing : Now, thanks to Tleilaxu_Ghola telling me one of my builds sucks and trying to improve it, we uncovered the Runesmith ability to be a munchkin, and some dwarven wizards can now shine Runesmith have "easy" requirements, heavy armor proficiency, and scribe scroll It's first level ability, Rune Casting, allows a caster to prepare his spells on runes instead of inside his head. That takes away every somatic component, thus, eliminating arcane failure... Gates are opened now Gish all you want and still cast your spells in mountain plate Be a mystic Theurge... Cleric 3/Wiz 2/Runesmith 1/MT 10/anything... It's also another good entry into Ur Priest, because of this neat +2 fortitude at level 1 Fighter 1/Wizard 4/Runesmith 1/Ur Priest 2/MT 8/Runesmith 2-5 This gives you 17th level wiz casting, 10th Ur priest, and every armor using you like along with tons of spells There, I hope you'll look better at our little hairy friends, the dwarves, now |
| Faithless the Wonder Boy01-15-06, 08:44 PM | Yeah, it isn't completely unknown. It's most commonly used as a quick dip for gish builds. Not exactly gamebreaking, though... |
| PhoenixInferno01-15-06, 08:56 PM | Its also a good way to get certain spells as Spell-Like Abilities using the Permanent Rune class feature. What's really gross about Runesmith is that its only 5 levels long. |
| Khan the Destroyer01-15-06, 10:11 PM | The more powerful ability of the Runesmith is the ability to turn one spell into a spell-like ability at 5th level. |
