Ascetic Cleric [Archive] - Wizards Community

12-22-03, 05:19 AM Having just picked up a copy of the BoED, I'm chomping at the bit to start a character with the Vow of Poverty feat. After pondering the possibilities for a bit, one major problem jumped out at me: I have more bonus exalted feats than I know what to do with. Here's a tentative first build:

Neutral Good Cleric 10/Contemplative 10

(Domains? My DM is very lenient when it comes to domain selection, and I'd plan on worshiping a philosophy, Good, rather than a deity. Anything that isn't ridiculous would fly, most likely. I'd like it to be as plausible as possible, though.)

01.CLR01 - Sacred Vow, Vow of Poverty, Exalted Turning
02.CLR02 - Intuitive Attack
03.CLR03 -
04.CLR04 - Nimbus of Light
05.CLR05 -
06.CLR06 - Holy Radiance
07.CLR07 -
08.CLR08 - (Exalted Feat)
09.CLR09 -
10.CLR10 - (Exalted Feat)
11.CON01 -
12.CON02 - (Exalted Feat)
13.CON03 -
14.CON04 - (Exalted Feat)
15.CON05 -
16.CON06 - (Exalted Feat)
17.CON07 -
18.CON08 - (Exalted Feat)
19.CON09 -
20.CON10 - (Exalted Feat)

Other than the choices early on, no other exalted feats particularly jump out at me. Favored of the Champions and Vow of Obedience would be great flavor, though, and they'd be a good pick at around levels 8 and 10. Any other ideas? Suggestions for general feats would be much appreciated, too.

As for stats, our group uses an unusual method: around 80 points, with all stats started at 0, and buy isn't weighted. Obviously, wisdom would be the most important, followed by charisma, but past that it's muddy.

Any help is appreciated.

EDIT - Ah, one way to get around having so many bonus feats (heh, what a problem, eh?) would be to take VoP at a later level, perhaps 3 or 6. If anyone can suggest a build with that in mind, that'd be great!

12-22-03, 09:00 AM nymphs kiss at 1st level is good.

There aren't many broken exalted feats, but they are useful. The vows, etc.

I don't recommend delaying vow of poverty unless you are starting at a high level, since that delays the few key exalted feats that you really want.

There's a list for the exalted and normal feat progressions that should help. I'm going to be changing the build around a bit because our game is a 28 point buy, and the gods are a bit different.
