| MaarakthePatient11-03-06, 02:16 AM | Seeing the large number of new threads on the board asking for new character builds and optimizations, it seems like it might be a good idea to try and consolidate them like the Ask a simple question thread. If this seems like a bad idea, blame it on me being new to the boards. |
| GaffeR11-03-06, 02:43 AM | Might work, but we DO have that whole library/handy links/important threads index stickied. |
| MaarakthePatient11-03-06, 02:52 AM | You do raise a good point, if not on purpose: If most of the people asking for the board to give them a build aren't bothering to check the stickied index of threads (or even the posting guidelines), why would they then use this thread. *sigh* |

| GaffeR11-03-06, 03:40 AM | I'm thinking they might get read more if they were labelled more clearly. Important Threads Index is a bit vague. |
| oontyex11-03-06, 09:39 AM | I don't think you guys should get as frustrated as you do when people don't follow (or more often i'd say - don't know about) the posting guidelines. No one forces you to reply to the posts, and if you choose to, it's really not such a big deal to link them to an old post etc This forum lets people enjoy D&D with other people around the world in a unique way, drop the preachy edge and i think you'll enjoy this hobby a lot more |
| fil kearney11-03-06, 09:46 AM | it would really be too much to link all the threads, "goliath builds here" "warlock builds here" trip builds here" blah blah blah. what a headache. we could relabel "important threads" to something like, "previous builds ahdn how to make the most of optimization" something to lead the impatient to existing resources instead of waiting for a build reuest. seriosly, wht build is being asked for that hasn't already been done? find one you like, tweak it, and then ask for opinions. |
| Zendu11-03-06, 10:32 AM | Well I need a build so I'll start it off This character is a NPC! I dont need cheese or brokeness, but I do want to have him be good at what he does! I'm looking to make a mage-theif, or to be more specific, a mage who uses spells to out-steal rogues. I'm currently leaning towards gnome wiz/shadow illusionist. Since this character is NOT designed for ANY sort of combat, I think that eliminates daggerspell mage from the list, I also feel that arcane trickster is to...roguey. I mean I have knock for a reason. I've been looking at MT just for the raw amount of low level spells I will probably be eating through, but Im not sure that works on a char-op or char-dev level. Any ideas? |

Thats true of any board...ever. Also, theres no way that character is covered in the FAQ unless you count cheater of mysteria (sp?) which is to social for my tastes. |

Any ideas? Have you considered beguiler from PHB2? Has all the important rogue skills and its illusion and enchanment spells are quite good for stealing things and getting away. Also the unseen seer from complete mage may be worth a look |
