A character of Mine was killed in our last session and then raised with True Reincarnation. The two rolls on the table were Half Orc and DM's Choice. The DM decided to offer me the choice of Assimar either with or without LA. We are allowing LA buyoff so basically my choice comes down to either I lose the Humanoid type and thus become immune to spells like Antilife Shell, Hold person, and Enlarge Person .... or I spend my next 5000xp buying off the LA and lost the humaoid type.

My character is currently Arisotcrat 1/Cleric 4 and my path was planning on being one more level of cleric, then 10 levels of Morninglord of Lathander ... I don't really thing the campaign will still be going past that point.

So should I spend the 5000xp to lost the Humanoid type?

You already wasted a level with aristocrat, go for the non LA variaty. Wasting levels as a true spellcaster hurts like hell.

I, for one am not sure what you're saying. Are you saying you're being offered the choice between lesser and standard aasimar? Or are you saying you're being offered the choice between an already bought-off LA and LA that needs to be bought off?

Choice between lesser and standard Assimar. The way I understand it, the diference (for a reincarnated character) amount to whether or not I retain the Humanoid type.

I know I wasted a level with aristocrat. The LA isn't a "Permanent" loss of casterlevel as I'm allowed to buy it off (and would right away for 5000xp) but it would set me back 5000xp.

It only sets you back 5000xp in the short term though, because once you're a lower level than the other PCs, you'll gain more experience per encounter.
