I was looking into making a level 32 Wizard NPC. He is Human and of Chaotic good alignment.

I was thinking Wiz xx , incantatrix xxx and arhmage xxx. I would like him to have as many feats as possible and was wondering if he should take spell focus and greater spell focus in either evocation or enchantment or both? Definately want Autoquicken x3 and multispell.

He also has the chosen of Mystra template.

Consider this a challenge for the board to make the ULTIMATE lev 32 pure int based caster.

32 levels huh?

Human
Wizard 20th/Incantatrix 10th/Netherese Archanist 2nd

If you can take the whole 5 Archanist by 32nd level, do it. This character will rock anythings world. Plus tacking on the chosen template, will just be overkill.

Give him item of Continous Fusion [XPH]. Like... pair of wedding rings.
Let him became fused with some epic psionic.
One of them will cast spells and control moving, another will toss psi-powers.
Say, Thaumaturgist with planar cohort.
For ultimate power - seven levels of Cosmic Descryer. Rod of Excellent Magic + Cosmic Connection(caster level)+Enduring Gate.

He will eat incantatrices for breakfast.

Hmm what do you guys think of wiz 15, archmage 5, incantatrix 12? Im not too sure if i want to go the nethere arcanist route... it limits spells, kinda like specializing. This is actually my personal character thats got well over 20 years of real life play time. He started out in original AD&D then converted him to 2nd edition and played Realms for about 8 years, dragonlance for 2 years, greyhawk for a few years and Al Quadim a while. He has almost every arcane spell in existance. The group I play with has been hounding me to make him a 3.5 edition char and the DM said I can convert all his MANY items and abilities as he plans on doing a big epic adventure in the future.

His abilitys are all 27+ as per the conversion rules booklet (little paperback that came with 1st shipment of 3.0) and im ballpark estimating after items and etc etc his INT will be around 44. The DM said feel free to use ALL existing 3.5 and 3.0 material (updated as needed to 3.5 from 3.0).

So maybe wiz 15
archmage 5
incantatrix 12

or wiz 10
incantrix 15
archmage 5
xxx 2?

I think netherese arcanist is cool but im worried about loosing a ton of spells due to the stringent focus on schools in it.

Suggestions?

Thanks all!! you guys rock!!

PS: the alignment on his sheet is blurred and looks like someone spilled beer on it along with the chars name and race... i know the name and the race (human) but cant remember the alignment lol... think it was either neutral? Chaotic neutral or chaotic good lol... its been a good 4 years since i played him)

One thing you might want to consider is 11 levels of Mage of the Arcane Order, you get bonus metamagic feats, and you can draw Epic spells from the spellpool.

Wouldn't it be difficult tot ake Netherese Arcanist as a Chosen of Mystra?

Isn't that a slight conflict of interest?

I could be wrong, but didn't they significantly nerf Automatic Quicken in 3.5?

we play autoquicken as it is in the 3.0 elh not the HORRIBLE piece of junk version in CA. Yep they nerfed it really really bad.

After reading incantatrix im even worried about taking levels in that cause you basically have to give up a school of magic. Arghh... I will keep researching things :) thanks all.

PS: I dont think Netherese Arcanist is all that hot.. basically have to give up several seeds for epic spells and only get a +5 spellcraft for it and +1 dc on saves vs your epic spells. Losing 3 or 4 seeds isnt worth it IMO.

If you want feats, then loremaster will give you a feat every 2 levels (secret)

Can't choose the same Secret more than once, including Applicable Knowledge, sorry.

Autoquicken in 3.5 was nerfed so that it applies to only one level of spells at a time, I think. Don't have CA with me.

Just be a plain level 32 wizard!
Taking levels in other classes or prcs will nerf a lot your number of epic feats, and epic progressions are all about feats.
Ex:
Level 32 plain wizard
8 epic feats (8x Improved Spell Capacity, or Enhance 1, Improved Metamagic 2 or 3, some Improved Spell Capacity, Epic Spellcasting and a lot of other goodies).

level 20 Wizard / 10 Incantatrix/ 2 Netherese Archanist
4 epic feats, plus Improved Metamagic from the Incantatrix levels.
So, now, what do you want to be?
