| Hanniball07-10-04, 03:17 PM | Hey all. I've been gone a while but i'm back now and in need of a bit of assistance with a build i'm thinking of playing in a 3.5 campaign. I would like to combine a human Sorcerer with Apostle of Peace, Mystic Theurge and the Vow of Poverty feat. It's a Faerunian based campaign that allots for only 3.5 material (Phb, DMG, MM, Book of Exalted Deeds, Complete Warrior/Divine, Faerun Players guide and all of the other Faerun books that are 3.5 compliant) The biggest problem i see is getting into Apostle of Peace early. The 6 ranks in Diplomacy prevent a straight Sorcerer from entering before 12th lvl. Therefore, my options are multi-classing into something with diplomacy as a class skill or taking some feat that gives it to me. My ultimate goal is 9th lvl arcane and divine spells within 20 lvls as well as all of the Vow of Poverty goodies. My idea was Sor 8/Sentinal of Baharri 2/AoP 2/MT 8 but that's not overly optimized so if anyone can think of something super cool that would be great. |

At 9th you can put 12 skill points into a skill, and so can put 12 skill points into Diplomacy...it just only gives you six ranks, is all. So: Sorcerer 6/Divine Oracle 3/Apostle of Peace 2/Mystic Theurge 8/Divine Oracle 1 ....seems like it would suit you. 18 caster levels arcane and divine, plus miscellaneous Divine Oracle goodies. Edit: or not, since Divine Oracle wants Knowledge: Religion and sorcerers don't get that. Doh. Sor9/AoP2/MyTh 8/Sor1 still works. If I'm wrong, and you really do need to wait 'till 12th, then try: Sorcerer 6/Exalted Arcanist 5/Apostle of Peace 1/Mystic Theurge 8 This only gives you nine levels of Apostle casting, but that's enough for 9th level spells. Meanwhile your Sorcerer also has 9th level spells, including all Sanctified and Exalted Arcanist spells. The big drawback, of course, is that you can't get the second AoP level without dropping the 5th EA level and thus losing 9th level Sorcerer spells, so you're shut out of either Time Stop and friends or the super-duper-no-save-no-SR calm emotions. Also, the feats are kinda tight if you want Vow of Poverty at level 1. Good luck, whatever you decide to take, and remember to take one or two of the Complete Divine turning feats. You're going to have a bunch of turning attempts, so you might as well put them to work. |

It means that you must take VoP at 1st level to get the bonus exalted feats, though; without them, VoP plus any prestige class is an expensive investment. A nice combo might be Sor6/Incantatrix 4/AoP 1/MT 9. It'd work like this: Sor1: Sacred Vow, VoP Sor2: Nymph's Kiss Sor3: A metamagic feat (Subdual Substitution is really useful!) Sor4: Vow of Nonviolence Sor6: Iron Will, Vow of Peace Sor6/Inc1: A metamagic feat (Purify or Consecrate Spell, maybe?) Sor6/Inc2: An exalted feat (Purify Spell Trigger or Nimbus of Light) Sor6/Inc3: Any feat (Spell Focus: Good might be nice, or a divine feat) Sor6/Inc4: A metamagic feat, an exalted feat (maybe Holy Radiance) Sor6/Inc4/AoP1/MT 1: Any feat (a divine feat might be best), an exalted feat (Consecrate Spell Trigger or maybe Exalted Turning?) Levels from there on are up to you. |
