So I'm Playing a 3rd level astral deva in a campaign, using Savige Species as my leveling guide. My main problem is that i only have an ac of 10+3 natural armor and whatever dex gives me. I am not allowed to ware armor nor sheild so my ac (after rolling my stats) are 17. I was thinking of using combat expertise and dodge as my two feats so that i could boost my ac but i was wondering if their were other ways.
Oh and we also start with 26000 gold so I'm thinking of a Ring of protection as well.

so i could take a feat, i dont know if i want toNot being proficient and not being allowed to are slightly different things. You'll probably want Dodge and eventually Elusive Target (Complete Warrior)

Mithral chain shirt has a 0 armor check penalty. You don't need to be proficient.

10-05-06, 05:39 PM Taking one feat for armor is alot better then trying to stack on dodges, you can eventually enchant the armor and whatnot and its ganna be alot better then 1 or 2, or try to get some kind of mage armor if you dont want it

Edit: Bracers of armor would work too

10-05-06, 07:32 PM Heck leather armor, or masterwork studded leather would work as well, along with a masterwork buckler/light shield or mitheral/darkwood heavy shield would give you +3-5 to AC without too much headache, that can be enchanted later.

10-05-06, 11:27 PM If you can get your dex to 26, a masterwork spidersilk shirt is better(AC+3, max dex +8).:)

For shields, use a masterwork buckler. But until you can actually afford those, leather armour or masterwork studded leather is the way to go.

Alternatively, have the party mage cast extended mage armour on you.

Also bear in mind the slight discrepancies in the SS version of the astral deva. You should not become large at ECL19, and you are missing +8dex, which you might want to factor into the progression at appropriate slots.:)

Have a player interested in playing one soon, wouldn't mind knowing more.
