| Breezesong08-09-06, 02:07 AM | I've been idly working on a bit of a playful fighter build, nothing too optimized, but making use of some things that'll make combat more enjoyable and less simple than it typically tends to be. There is one small problem I've encountered with what I've been going for, however, and that is the limit on Attacks of Opportunity. Is there anyway to get more of them other than by taking Combat Reflexes and raising one's Dexterity? As a side note, would anyone also know of some nice feats to contribute to the list I've been looking over to choose between so far? Here it is...: Dodge, Combat Reflexes, Deft Opportunist, Combat Focus, Mobility, Combat Defense, Elusive Target, Eyes in the Back of Your Head, Combat Vigor, Sidestep, Robilar's Gambit, Improved Combat Expertise, and Defensive Sweep. It is mostly focused around being defensive, and utilizing AoOs. Thanks for your time in reading this. => |

| Breezesong08-09-06, 01:07 PM | *nods*Thanks, I had ignored Defensive Throw at first because it seemed like an only-unarmed feat, but now looking at it it seems nice. Does Defensive Throw stack with Robilar's Gambit if the enemy misses? If so, which'd resolve first? And is there any way to get more possible AoOs other than Combat Reflexes (and the correspending epic feat, but this character won't be epic)? |
| PhoenixInferno08-09-06, 01:23 PM | Well, CustServ has said that Karmic Strike and Robilar's Gambit doesn't give you 2 AoOs on a hit, so I would imagine that Defensive Throw and Robilar's Gambit wouldn't give you 2 AoOs on a miss. |

I've seen something, maybe it's in Tome of Battle, that lets you make a 5' step instead of taking an AoO, though I don't have the book so I don't know if it counts as your 5' step for the round. That might help conserve them, but as far as I know you can't exceed Dex mod + 1 AoO in a round before epic levels. |
| PhaedrusXY08-09-06, 02:28 PM | There is a Psychic Warrior power that can give you an extra AoO, and it is a swift action to cast it. The Psychic Weapon Master in Mind's Eye also gets to add his Wisdom mod to his extra attacks from Combat Reflexes (on top of Dex). If you take the Double Hit feat (Mini's Handbook I think), you can take two attacks for each attack of opportunity. This requires quite some feat investment, though. See "The Dwarven Answerer" link in my sig for an example build using this, or Caelic's "Jack-B-Quick" for an extreme example of multiple AoO. |
