Starting a FR campaign Saturday, and I have this idea for an auspician character, emphasising on his incredible luck. Problem is, I'm a little short on how to go about it.

Any ideas or suggestions for the build? Feats, abilities, or items to help bolster my luck?

Aside from the prereq's you'll need to take in feats:
- Dodge
- Great Fortitude
- Iron Will
- Lightning Reflexes

Spell penetration is nice, Improved Toughness keeps you alive longer and sometimes makes you impervious to certain spells, and maybe Craft Wonderous Item and work with your DM on how to create more luck infused items.

Due to the hefty PrC's feat prereq, Human or Strongheart Halfling would be a good choice for race. This way you can start your PrC earlier to benefit from all it's interesting abilities.

Then take possibly Tymora as your patron (chaotic), with the Luck and Travel domain. Getting multiple rerolls is so nice and all plus fly, dim door, and teleport at higher levels never hurts. From a roleplaying aspect, the travel domain power freedom of movement is nice because your DM can flavor it up that for some reason you just luckly found or landed in the right places where web, grease, mud, etc just so happens to not affect you. Yeah there are other deities with the luck domain but their portfolio isn't as good IMO.

IMO I would go straight cleric and finish up with Divine Disciple for your 4th Domain...which means, 4th domain power. Mmmmmm.

Infuse yourself with +2 to DC's since it's rare you'll get a luck bonus to DC's and +2 is pretty mighty. The other luck infusion is really up to your playing style and situation. Our Auspician always takes +2 to AC.

Lucky Blow is a nice feature, of course you could do that one really nasty two handed powerattack 1/day but not sure if you want to burn a feat just for that purpose alone.

Abilities: Wisdom of course, this is basically a great cleric PrC so any cleric guide should suffice you just happen to have the ability to tempt fate..once or twice. Con and maybe Dex, avoiding attacks and making your reflex saves (since both cleric and Aus have bad ones) is a definate sign of luck.

There are weapon enchantments called "lucky" (psionics) that allow one attack reroll, I believe there is another item in one of the new FR books that does a similar thing if psionics are not avaliable in your FR campaign.

A luckstone would naturally be a nice item for a luck infused cleric, but make sure you don't give yourself a luck bonus that you already get from the stone.

Armor, something with fortification in essense is giving you a 2nd chance against a potentially deadly blow this would fit your hero well, at most 75% since 100% might be too expensive vs. just getting more AC and 100% isn't really luck anymore it's divine intervention. Remember good or bad, luck is still luck.

Walk around with a continually light coin (Tymora's holy symbol) and make sure you talk about the great Auspician of Silverymoon (gotta give props to our Auspician) or I would have no exp of how they work in a campaign.

A vest of escape, if you decide escape artist is one of the class skills you'll be adding points into. It also comes with lock picks that I guess the party rogue can use...and of course you can say. Try these, they are my lucky picks. (just remember to get them back after each successful attempt)

And my personal favorite, Eyes of the Eagle...cheap but effective at 1st or 20th level. +5 to spot is so nice, and once again you just so happened to notice what everyone else did not...lucky you. (spot also being a PrC skill) I'd take tumble too.

More expensive items might include, a minor cloak of displacement - eventually a major one (again with the lucky right place right time thing), any stats that increase your saves and/or ability scores that synergize and increase you saves.

There's more stuff i'm sure but i'll leave that to the poster behind me.

Good luck.
