| TrackStar07-28-05, 01:41 PM | Have Bless Weapon and Hunters Mercy cast on you. This causes you to automatically hit for a critical. Use a weapon with "Coupe de grace" (psionics handbook) Declare your next attack and you auto kill your opponent. I dont see why this wouldn't work... Rinse and Repeat your way to godlieness. |
| Enki07-28-05, 01:44 PM | Wouldn't work. Under the description of Bless weapon it states: This last effect does not apply to any weapon that already has a magical effect related to critical hits, such as a keen weapon or a vorpal sword. |
| TrackStar07-28-05, 01:58 PM | Hmmm, anyone wanna argue this?? I think I could make it work if I were to lawyer it. :P |
| lostone07-28-05, 02:45 PM | If your DM allows it then he is obviously not reading the spell. It seems pretty clear cut to me. Hunters Mercy would be considered a magical affect related to critical hits. |
| Arismir07-28-05, 02:46 PM | I dont know what Coup de Grace states, but I'm interested. |

This combo has been around for a long time.....I posted it in my Archer Build Thread a year and a half ago. |
| Lilt07-28-05, 04:31 PM | The incompatibility isn't with hunter's mercy and bless weapon, it's with bless weapon and coup-de-grace. I'm still not seeing how this is an auto-kill, there is a will save versus the CDG ability. |
| ksbsnowowl07-28-05, 04:54 PM | The incompatibility isn't with hunter's mercy and bless weapon, it's with bless weapon and coup-de-grace.Ah, my mistake; I'm just used to people attacking the BW/HM combo bec they think HM affects the weapon... |
| Kingrames07-28-05, 07:42 PM | why would you do that when you can just do: sneak attack plus hold person. that's a coup de grace, and the save's going to be pretty darn high. |
| TrackStar07-28-05, 08:33 PM | ^What do you mean with the sneak attack plus hold person? Have hold person as an effect on your dagger for sneak attack? Why would the save be really high? Im lost... :P |
| Kingrames07-28-05, 09:02 PM | ^What do you mean with the sneak attack plus hold person? Have hold person as an effect on your dagger for sneak attack? Why would the save be really high? Im lost... :P cast hold person on someone. they are paralyzed and helpless. perform coup de grace. the savig throw to avoid automatic death from that coup de grace will be higher than normal due to the sneak attack bonus damage. |
