| BrimstoneAsh06-23-06, 12:57 AM | Hi I'm looking to make a character out of a Nimblewright Awakened Construct Rogue (MM2, Sav) I'm having trouble figuring out the ECL and all of that and was wondering if anyone could provide any insight. The Nimblewright IMHO is much overlooked with a speed of 40, Spring Attack, and Augmented Critical of 12-20(!!!) there is alot of potential there and this guy would just be plain mean with a few levels in rogue. This is what I've worked out so far and I realize most of this is wrong due to the fact that I don't know how to figure in Spell Resistance, Construct Traits, or Bonus Feats in with ECL. Come to think of it it would probably be better to have another character buy one than go through all of this but still I would like to see the outcome. Nimblewright (Awakened) Medium-Size Construct Hit Dice: 10d10 ECL: 13 (+10 Hit Dice,+2 Natural Armor, +1 Spell-Like Ability at will) Initiative +7 Speed 40ft. AC 24 (+7Dex,+7Natural) Attacks: 2 Rapier-hands +11 melee Damage: Rapier-hand 2d6+4/12-20 Face/Reach 5ft. Special Attacks: Spell-Like Abilities, tripping thrust Special Qualities: Augmented critical, construct traits, SR 27, vulnerabilities Saves: Fort +3, Ref +10, Will +6 Abilites: Str19, Dex24, Con-, Int10, Wis17,Cha19 Feats: Combat Reflexes (B), Dodge (B), Expertise (B), Improved Disarm (B), Mobility (B), Spring Attack (B). Challenge Rating: 7 Alignment: Always Chaotic I don't know where to go from here is the problem, I would like to find a feat or something that would allow him to repair himself. In Tome and Blood I believe there is a spell Repair Minor Wounds but that doesn't solve much, I suppose a Wand of Repair Minor Wounds would work and I am planning on making him a Rogue... Help me out here I'm drawing a blank.. |

| ksbsnowowl06-23-06, 02:38 AM | The 3.5 update booklet (downloadable from the D&D main web page) provides the Level Adjustment for the Nimblewright (as well as other creatures in the MMII). It also updates them and narrows the rapier threat range significantly (only threats 17-20, or some such). |
| Burning Duck06-23-06, 03:02 AM | LA +6, and threat range shifted down to 15-20, but, with Improved Critical or Keen, 9-20 is about as good as it gets. |
| tsuyoshikentsu06-23-06, 04:43 AM | Isn't it funny that all of those feats a Nimblewright gets are bonus feats? Isn't it funny that since a nimblewright has intelligence, it gets feats as a normal character? Isn't it funny that, at ECL 16 with 10 HD, a Nimblewright has a +7/+2 BAB and four open feat slots? Isn't it funny that it more than qualifies for Disciple of Dispater? And isn't it funny that just four levels of that will, with Improved Critical, triple your threat range of 15-20? A real knee-slapper, if you ask me. EDIT: And isn' it funny that... Y'know what, I'm not even going ot bother. Just go out and get an amulet o natural attacks with every burst you can fit on it. |
| BrimstoneAsh06-23-06, 12:54 PM | I don't get it... |

| *R*06-23-06, 02:59 PM | The feat-stuff doesn't work. :( The OP is Awakening it, as opposed to making it Incarnate, AFAICT. |
| Xaktsaroth06-23-06, 03:00 PM | The feat-stuff doesn't work. :( No, actually, he's right. A mindless creature can't learn feats, which is why all the Nimblewright's feats in MM2 are bonus; he couldn't learn them naturally. MM2 3.5 Update Booklet, however, they noticed that a the Nimblewright with a decent Int score being a mindless creature was something that needed updating, and thus 4 of the 6 feats became normal feats. So you don't actually have to awaken one to play one.(ECL 16 though) That being said, as an intelligent creature, if you were to play one, you could change the non-bonus feats to whatever you wanted. I used this as a premise for the third build in my Triad of Shadows thread(link in .sig) I combined a Fiend of Possession and a Nimblewright for some big damage, I decided to go the Thayan Gladiator route instead of Disiciple of Dispater, as I wanted to maximize attacks. Actually, I should update that build, the PHB 2 gave me a lot of new options. |

Awakened instead of Incarnated, I should have seen that :( However, since the Nimblewright already has 'humanlike sentience' (or better, given its stats) you might find a lot of DMs wouldn't allow it. Also, now that I think of it:Nimblewright: Construct; 5 ft./5 ft.; Balance +9, Jump +19, Tumble +22; Combat ExpertiseB, Combat ReflexesB, Dodge, Improved Disarm, Mobility, Spring Attack; LA +6; Gains 20 bonus hit points (change to Construct type); HD become 10d10+20 (75 hp). Change rapier-hand damage to 2d6+4/15–20, and adjust Augmented Criticals entry accordingly. Caster Level: 18th; Prerequisites: Craft Construct, geas/quest, haste, limited wish, and polymorph any object; Market Price: 22,000 gp; Cost to Create: 18,500 gp (including 7,500 for the body) + 580 XP.As you see, most of the feats are no longer bonus feats. Still better than incarnate tho, for sure. |

| BrimstoneAsh06-24-06, 05:39 PM | Thanks for all of the info guys, you've made this alot easier for me, i'll post the finished result once i get everything else ironed out. I'm still thinking about putting a few levels into rogue and giving it something with alter self for added infiltration stylez |
| Doomed_Penguin06-24-06, 06:31 PM | swashbuckler would be soo much cooler |
| EldonG06-24-06, 06:41 PM | I'm really not so sure what all stacks with the augmented crit...but the Telling Blow is simply obscene. :D |
| LogicNinja06-24-06, 07:10 PM | Yep. Rogue with Telling Blow. If you go epic enough, maybe pick up Psychic Weapon Master. |
