Awesome Combo!! Spectral Weapon+Whirling Blade+Power Attack+Arcane Strike in 1 round [Archive] - Wizards Community

Spectral Weapon (CAdv): it's a swift action, you create any weapon you wish and it deals touch attacks. IE, let's create a scythe (coolness factor)

Then

Whirling Blade (CA): standard action. You hurl your weapon and it magically strikes all foes in a 60' line. You can apply any bonuses from ability scores or feats.

Then

Power Attack: as you deal now touch attacks, you could strike for a good amount of damage.

Then

Arcane Strike (CW): free action. Now you burn your highest spell slot and deal a great amount of total damage.

This is possible, isn't it?

I'm surprised you didn't Sculpt Spell / Enlarge Spell on the Whirling Blade while you were at it.

11-23-05, 12:19 PM Wraithstrike does it better, since it doesn't specify you have to hold the weapon in hand.

Before wraithstrike was banned in LG, I saw a 15th level gish do a pretty mean whirling blade using this approach, forcing massive damage fort saves on everyone in the area.

Still though, to be fair, the damage fell in the range between what an area spell does if you fail the save and what an area spell does if you make the save, at that level.

More impressive was the full attack he did to a cornigun, killing it in a single round because it strayed too close. To manage that though he had to mix in contingency improved blink to get the thing flatfooted against him, as its touch AC would have still been too high for the iteratives to hit otherwise.

1)Don't remember right now. If it really vanishes, damn. :mad:

2 & 3) The spell's description says that you can apply any feat you could normally apply at melee. So Power Attack/Arcane Strike is ok.

Enlarge Spell is ok, but I think you can't use Sculpt Spell with Whirling Blade, since a line effect it's not an area effect . [EDIT: I've just read it and I'm wrong, IT IS an area effect indeed. Wow, so Sculpt Spell can get really nasty with this (or wraithstrike)]
